Default Good valve control, pushrods lifters

I'm going to be ordering some PRC 227's very soon and as long as I'm in there I would like to get pushrods and lifters. Would like to spin it to 7000. Has torquer V2 already. What would you guys recommend for lifters and diameter pushrods? Thanks.

Spring pressures affect pushrod selection. For a safe bet, i would go manton series 5 11/32, non-tapered. maybe slightly clearance the bosses for good measure while the heads are off.

I like the Johnson short travel lifters, but they get expensive for most people's tastes. However, the valve control is tremendous with them.

I would think the PRC’s would have enough room for a 3/8” pushrod. I use BTR .080” wall 3/8” pushrods in almost all of my builds, and they’re barely more expensive than 5/16” pushrods.

If the room is there, for sure

Yeah at 7000 a lot I'd want the .080 wall. They have served me well even with the little extra weight. Moral racing $lifters$ and rev to the moon!

I'll send them a message and see if 3/8 clears. Thanks.

FWIW, I’ve drilled out stock heads and fit 3/8” just fine.

Weight on the pushrod side isnt that big of a deal, go 3/8 if it fits. They may be a bit pricey, but Morel's 5206 should be able to handle 7k all day long.

You have to clearance for them. They will not work on a "stock" head.

if the 3/8 dia fit ,also consider ,is the block or heads decked any ? what head gasket you using ? I suggest buying a pushrod checker tool ,to get the optimum push rod length for better valve train stability ,and make more power .thats what I have learned reading all the great threads here .

Manton 11/32” are .120 wall. No need to clearance for 3/8 pushrods.

Ditto. I have BTR 3/8” pushrods in a set of 317 heads. It’s tight but it clears.

7,000 isn’t very fast and .600” isn’t that much lift. For reference, I’m spinning to 7,300 with a .600 lift cam using Manton 11/32 .120 wall pushrods. Not even using double springs, just single beehives. And I bounce off the rev limiter with what I do. Perfect control.

Well that should settle a lot of the anti-beehive BS. .600 is getting to be pretty much a normal lift for LS setups. And for them to go to 7k RPM is saying something too!

I rev'd my 5/16 .08 p'rods, 228/232 XeR lobe, 26918 with TS retainers, LS7 lifter, ported 241's 5.7L to 7.3K daily! I miss that car. If you go radical on the cam you can still stay single with the comp conical springs too

I'm just trying to stay light and strong for valve control. I know 7k isn't too high but that's about the powerband I want to stick with. Cam peaks around 6100. I really like the cam, that's why I'm sticking with it. If I could get away with a single beehive that would be good, less weight. Which does anybody recommend? Thanks.

Psi1511 for weight and longevity. Friend of mine did psi 1511 and titanium keepers took over a pound out of valvetrain.
