Default Oil pressure fluctuation after sensor replacement

Long story short I decided to replace my oil pressure sensor while doing my ls6 intake and valley cover swap. The old sensor was working well. 40 psi warm idle and 65 psi wot. The new sensor reads around 20 at idle when warm, 40 when cruising and when I get on it it slowly drops to around 30 until I let off. Then it goes back to 40. If I just rev it with the clutch in/ in neutral it works normally and goes from 40 to around 50-55. Not sure what could cause this?

Is the engine to the full mark on the dipstick? Can you put the old sensor back in and see what happens?

Oil is full. And no I can't... My buddy broke it taking it out.... It is possible that I didnt get it threaded in all the way. Would that cause an issue?

are you sure it’s the correct sensor? I see AC Delco lists 2 different part numbers for oil pressure sending units. I’m not sure what the difference is but I suspect they have different range readings. Looking at pics online it’s appears they have the same connector so it may be possible to install the wrong one. Just a thought...
i don’t think not installing the sensor all the way would cause the pressure fluctuations you’re seeing unless there was a good size oil leak from the threads.

Yeah I'm not seeing any leaks. The sensor I used is a borg Warner sensor. I was a little taller than the stock one. I'm assuming my oil pressure is good because my old sensor was reading great and I don't think anything could happen happened internally with it just sitting in my garage for 3 days

I agree with that logic too. You could always cross check with a mechanical pressure gauge just for peace of mind. The only bad thing about leaving it as-is would be if you started having real oil pressure issues in the future. It would be easy to pass off real trouble to this inaccurate pressure gauge in the event your pickup tube O ring fails or oil pump pressure spring sticks open (as these are somewhat common to this engine platform).

Don't over think it. It was fine, you swapped the sensor and now it's not.

It's the sensor. Nothing about the intake can affect oil pressure.

Put the old sensor back in or a new GM sensor.

By the way, the same thing happened to me. I swapped for an LS6 intake, broke my sensor, buddy had one laying around and gave it to me, oil pressure did almost exactly what yours is doing.
