Found some crazy grind marks in used ls1 block

Default Found some crazy grind marks in used ls1 block

just picked up this block looked inside and found some grind marks inside that look like they were done intentionally, possibly with a dremel. Also found a scratch, is this block screwed?

Light surface cut to the deck and you’ll be fine. Original main bearings look decent

There is a parting line in the bay windows that someone ground away. I do this as well, but much nicer. Your fine.
I have to admit that I wasn’t aware the Ls1 blocks had bay windows. I learned something new today, and it’s still early. Yay me.

Yea, I was thinking this too. The early LS1 blocks have the webbing holes which makes the block weaker but no windows that I am aware of.

Which, if the original engine would still be an LS1. HOWEVER, someone might have dropped in an LS6 in the mean time....

Easiest way to tell a LS1 block is the round bullseye on the top front right side of the block.

Correct. They had the hole drilled through just below the cam tunnel instead. Not as effective but better than nothing.
