P0300 cam swap

P0300 cam swap So i have a ls1 lm7 in my gmc sierra, i swapped out the cam to a elgin cam with 228/230 duration with 585 lift and 112 lsa. Im getting a multiple misfire code now and i know i can clean or replace the crank sensor but i feel like it may actually be misfiring.. It doesnt like to idle which is to be expected but it will sometimes die out when i come to a stop. Is this a problem with misfires or simply just a better tune? What do you guys think?

Ok so im assuming you are new to aftermarket cams but when you hear a cam “loping” you are hearing misfires. Misfires are normal with an aftermarket cam. You truck will benefit well from a tune. A tune should clear up the dying coming to stops and what not.

I understand cams and all the specs but i dont know exactly the "side effects" of cam swaps as this is my first build. What tuner do you guys recommend? Id love to have a hp tuner but id rather not spend 100 bucks every time i wanna try a different tune, i was looking at the jet msd tuner but theres not too much information about it on youtube and theres not too many forums and i dont wanna have it be a $400 pos

If you own hptuners once you pay the $100 to unlock the pcm you can flash the pcm and make changes as many times as you want.

there are guides on how to tune for a cam with an LS powered car if you search. basic driveability tuning with a cam are tuning the idle, lack of manifold vacuum as compared to the OEM cam, and dealing with the misfire detection. you can do it yourself if you do the research. sounds like your tuner isn't all that great.
