Head Gasket for .020 bore

If my block is bored .020 over do I need a different head gasket or will stock work?

I don't believe you will be able to since the stock size head gasket bore is 3.910. Assuming we are talking about an LS1 5.7 bore you will need to be looking at a 3.93 or greater bore head gasket.

That's what I was thinking but it would need to be 3.98 right?

I assume your running an aftermarket piston. What size bore does your pistons call for?

I didn't know you could bore an LS1 sleeve to .020 either.

Yep that's what I thought also when my engine builder said we could. When I questioned it his exact words were "stop reading the f'ing internet" and also said "why do they make pistons for it if you can't do it". He is a very respected builder around here so I said good enough for me. The motor has ran good since the rebuild but I had a lifter fail so I had to pull the heads and I'd rather not reuse the old head gaskets. The gaskets that are there are Fel-pro 9284PT. Those do show a 3.99 bore so I guess I will just reorder those. Thanks for your help.
