Thats weird, I thought you were in the 8k range in your build thread. Must have you mixed with someone else.

the springs i have now will be safe at those rpms but i have no intention of running it that high. its more of an insurance policy incase of a missed shift or mechanical over rev.

Ok. I never bought lifters last time I had the engine apart. I was so confused and just reused my old ones. I really wanted ls7 or the delphi's, but I cant find any and the only Gm ones I can find for a decent price, are not gm packaged and are bulk packed and claim to be genuine gm lifters. I dont trust that. So i consulted a good friend of mine that builds these engines for a living. I didnt even mention the elgin, but i asked about a good affordable lifter and his reply was stay away from elgin lifters and use the hylifts if i cant get genuine ls7 units.....My local engiine parts warehouse has those for $140. So as of now, thats what i decided on. That could change if i find something else before thursday when I got pick them up.

There are four companies manufacturing ls7 lifters.
And probably five times that in brand names on these same lifters.

I had good luck with the drop-in Morel lifters. They are about $200. Took them to 7800rpms regularly.

I'll stick to using link bars in an effort to reduce the risk of spinning a lifter.

I don't know if they have changed since then, 20% for the Morels is high.

I wonder if engine oil carbon and sludge would effect the finer tolerances in a slow leak down lifter more that a standard one as engine oil contamination is recognised as a major cause of lifter failure? I have had success once with engine oil flush quietening my stock LS1 lifters a few years ago, there are also lifter free additives available. Makes me think clean oil is important with lifters.

Returned Morel lifters for warranty inspection has never exceeded 1% of lifters sold. LS hyd. lifters shipped last year to board sponsors numbers 1626 sets. Returned for inspection was 14 sets of LS. Of the 14 sets......8 sets had debris in lifter...4 sets checked just fine, no issues...2 sets had a leak down issue and were replaced. This is documented data. Any mfg would take this return rate and RAVE about it.

Does that only cover the "Morel" brand name specifically and not the brands they provide parts for like Lunati?

Picked up hylift Johnsons today for $129 local. Had I not been in a hurry, I would have ordered some from summit or ws6store. they definitely look nicer than my factory ones. looks aint everything tho.
