Default The Second Cumming is here!!

Well as some on here know i had a some engine issues a while back. I hurt the ls6 while testing a load cell on the shifterfor the ignition cut. Bent 3 valves, fixed it and it was mostly fine but i must have hurt a lifter to. Adjusted it to run it like a solid and it was fine. But i decided to change it and put the ls7 in as a precaution. Well the ls7 was new rebuilt.....but seemed to have sprung a leak somewhere and dumped all the water in the oil pan. Ran fine other than that lol.

So the second cumming began. The ls6 had 90k hard miles on it. So rather than just run it into the ground i thought it was best to get it rebuilt before putting it back in the car. Upon disassembly everything really looked good.....except for the cam bearings which showed some wear.

I looked and weighed out my options on parts to find a decent combo to make some small improvements along the way with the second cumming. The block was decked to square it up a bit. I ordered some gen4 floating rods and some mahle pistons with a 1mm 1mm 2mm ring pak and 4cc valve reliefs. I didn't really want valve reliefs that big but there's not really much available for 5.7's anymore in the way of off the shelf pistons. They are forged and a good bit lighter than stock but the rods steal some of that back. Ended up at about a 20g savings per rod/piston combo. It has a crank scraper too and the stock crank wuth a dod oil pump. That pretty much sums up the bottom end.

The heads are some old gmpp cnc'd ls6 heads. I cleaned up the cnc marks on them for a little more flow and opened up the exhaust side a bit. Still using the stock valves. They were cut .055 when gm did them. Now they're cut a additional .035 for a total of .090. That gets the compression to about 12:1 with a .051 head gasket.

The valvetrain is a llsr from Dartv8r h/c ls1 he donated to the project. I forget the exact specs and can't find them at the moment. I went with speedmaster shaft style 1.7 rockers. They actually look like decent stuff so i guess we'll see how they hold up. 5/16 pushrods was used because 3/8 wouldn't fit even tho i drilled out the holes a bit.

98WS6 M6 helped me out some with his burnt down mamo msd that i fixed up and ported on a bit more. Other than that suff my typical crap will be on it.

Hopefully it runs well. Fletcher Made Horsepower did all the machine work and assembly for me. He's a friend and builds some really awesome engines. No one i would trust more with my junk.

Sounds like a simple ls6 rebuild and I’ll bet it runs good considering your bolt on setup. Wish the 3/8” PR would’ve worked. 11/32” is another option too. What spring you planning with the llsr? The cam according to darths build thread is 237/245-112.5+2 6/16/2016 with LLSR. After car warms up, actual profile at valves (minus lash) is 232/240-112.5+2 not sure what lifts.

They have been annointed by the Rod Johnson weiner! It's like they're knighted now.

Back story on the heads. I brokered the deal for hammer to get them . He didn't use them so i bought them from him.

Sxc yes they're 11/16. Muh brain farted and i forgot that size. Thanks for looking up the cam. I was getting tired last night and didn't feel like it.

If this thing runs as fast as i would from yalls wieners it's gonna be a rocket.

That intake is the special Mamo "Smoked" Edition MSD. It's definitely a little lighter with all those plastic ports melted off of it too.

I’m guessing 530-535 seeing that the whole car is very efficient from the engine to tires, although I’m more interested in track times.

Any timeline on dyno and track?

I'm guessing 490whp based on careful speculation and reading of tea leaves.

No real timeline but will probably see a dyno in late winter early spring. Probably track in the fall because ive damn near changed everything in the suspension. It could happen in the spring if everything goes super well. But it may need a gear change. I may set it up to use 5 gears in the qtr after some initial testing with the 3.89s. A 5.64 gear would be needed to accomplish that.

I like tea....but i would like to see a little more than 490 since the bolt on ls6 did 451whp.

Someone is a little optimistic at 555 lol. Probably at the high of what could happen. Gonna need a fuel and the vac pump for that no doubt.

I think 135 or more will be doable imo if it makes the power i hope .
