Default Which trucks use 706 heads

Getting ready to order sensors and **** for my 04-05 gen 3 truck engine 5.3 with 706 heads, gen 3 everything except connecting rods. They are gen 4. Heads are not castech

im wanting to know what I can put in for vehicle specification on rock auto etc to get the proper sensors and what not. I bought it and was told it was an 05 but idk I can’t be 100% sure so I say 04/05. I’m sure it’s one or the other because of the gen 4 rods. The truck intake also had a DBW throttle body. Thanks guys

706 (and its identical twin 862) were used on all 4.8/5.3 (LR4, LM4, LM7, L59) engines but the L33 which used 243's.

Right: something like, 99 - 06 4.8s & 5.3s except L33, all used those heads.

Head casting doesn't matter all that much to "sensors" AFAIK. The only "sensor" that screws into a head is the coolant temp one. Which AFAIK there is only one thread they used for that, in any head of that era on any of the various motors available in that time frame.

99-07 2007 Silverado/Sierra Classic style still had them. 2007 nnbs introduced later in the same year had gen 4 with 799/243 heads.

Yes.

And Avalanche.

Guess how I, RB04Av, know this.

And Suburban as well. Did anybody mention, ALL 4.8 / 5.3 99 - 06, plus a few limited 07 applications? ALL? Is there a letter of the word "all" that we can explain more fully?

The LM7 is by far the most common Gen III truck engine out there. They all use the same sensors. It was available in ALL Chevy and GMC 1/2 ton pickups, Suburbans, Tahoes, and Avalanches. What else do you need to know?

They started putting the gen 4 rods into them at some point in 05, if that's what you're asking about. Not sure how many of them got that; maybe all by the end of the 06 run, but I don't think it was an all-at-once kind of deal. More of a use-up-all-the-old-stock-first situation. I also don't think it was related to specific truck models.

If you have a geb 3 setup with gen 4 rods then it's likely from a 05-07 silverado, sierra, tahoe, yukon, avalanche

Did not come in a specific truck, it came in them all. Your situation is more of a specific year issue, not a specific truck issue. To be safe look at 06-07

However, most of your sensors are going to be the same on a gen 3 from 99-07

this is the best answer I was looking for ! The 05-07 and trucks they came in so now I have a variety of trucks to type in when I’m searching like rock auto etc. thank you man that helps me a lot. And yea you’re right, I need an IAC and TPS sensor I was gonna check local junkyards but the chances of me finding a 99-02 truck engine is probably slim to none lmao

I also still need a 3 bar map sensor for my TBSS intake manifold that’s kind of budget friendly ... I don’t wanna get the expensive Holley one because for probably a year or so the car is just gonna be daily driven around 600ish hp I’d assume before I really start adding power and racing
