Default Pushrod question

So I had my car tuned awhile ago and had nothing but issues. Today I called the tuner and we got to talking and he said when he tuned it that he was having vaccum issues which is why he had it idling at 950 to 975 because anything lower it had no vaccum in the manifold. So I checked for vaccum leaks and no smoke was coming from anywhere. So I moved onto the pushrods heres what I found. The drivers side is 7.550 and the passenger is 7.525. I called and asked him and he said with a 244/248 cam, ls7 lifters, stock rockers, and prc 247 heads with the ls3 headgasket he said that that's way to long. That it should be close to stock or shorter is that true? I do have a pushrod checker ordered and on the way I'm only asking from other people's experience.

There are several variables that can change pushrod length, Cam base circle/ Head gasket thickness/ Heads possibly milled and so on. The only sure way to know it to measure them yourself.

When it comes to pushrods every single one should be measured. This was an exercise in laziness.

I agree it's funny because it's not the ones I originally installed. I measured before and got 7.5. The guy before the tuner who worked on it would have had to swap them out. Regardless I have a new checker coming Thursday. I was just looking for ball park ideas from anyone with similar setups.

i would think if they were too long the engine wouldnt run ( valves always a bit open so no compression)and with that cam i would assume the valves would hit the pistons if the PR were too long and hanging open

kinda what I was thinking I shoved a camera in the spark plug hole and their is no marks of the valves hitting any of the pistons. So id assume that they are at the very least some what close. I'll know more Thursday when my checker comes

A proper tuner will refuse to tune your ride if it has mechanical problems. They do not want your hardware issues to give them a bad name. I would ignore anything this guy said as background noise. (a broken clock can be right twice a day). Either learn for yourself or pay better pros..

i agree we smoke tested thr intake for leaks and didn't see anything at first but re did it with a little more psi and smoke and it came bellowing out from under thr intake. The crossover, knock sensor harness, and valley cover bolts actually pushed thr bottom of the intake away from the intske face side of the head...

The intake bottom might be cracked. Did you use button head bolts on the valley cover?
