The older version being the 227/234? Thanks for the input, that's about how I would describe the 226/230 that's in my car. My tuner is a distributor for BTR as well, so I have to take the recommendation with a grain of salt (same with everyone trying to sell you on their custom proprietary lobes).

The tuner also recommended a SD tune for this setup. After researching HPtuners a bit, it seems like an SD tune may be less time consuming since you would skip the whole MAF tuning step? Or would he end up spending the same amount of time to get the VE tables dialed in better than if doing a MAF tune?

That's not going to drive as nice as the others that were listed in this thread. Not that it would drive bad with good tuning, but it wont have the same idle/slow speed manners.

Figured that would be the case. We'll pass then, looks like it might be sold anyways. $100 in the classifieds here.

Thanks to everyone that provided input! I'm sure I'll have a few more questions along the way. This will be our first time doing the cam swap with heads on, and doing valve springs and seals. The videos look easy enough, but everything is a pain on the back cylinders under the cowl.
