forged 5.3 bored to 5.7?
Hey ls1tech peoples! I have a full stock ls1 98 z28 with a spun bearing and I've been considering an engine i saw on fb market place and was wondering if you guys can give me your opinions. It's a iron block 5.3 bored to a 5.7 with forged pistons and h beam rods and a factory crank and some other stuff that will be shown in the picture. 1
I have a few questions. First will this motor hook up to my ls1 t56 harness with 243 heads ls1 intake and long tubes, and if so will I need a better ecu to tune or something because I know the 98 ecus are bad
Second question is.. Is this motor a good deal at 2k? I'm pretty sure it is lol. The dude told me it was build 4-5 years ago and has been sitting since. It looks clean in his pictures. And he has paperwork of labor.
Third question is how is the cam? I think its on the weaker side? Perferably i want power and chop but as long as it sounds great I dont mind a weakish cam lolll.
Last question is, Is this a good set up? I'm looking for a setup I can daily for 100k-200k miles over the next few years and maybe even throw a turbo on down the line. My ls1 blew at 93k miles and I just want a cammed ls that will not break I was quoted 3k to rebuild my ls1 stock so I'm not sure how much it would be to do a similar forged setup but I know this is a cheaper option.
Thank you very much for the read and I hope you guys think this engine is a good idea for me as I really want to get my car running.

It will be heavier than your current motor. Everything will work except the 5.3 block is missing a bolt hole on the block that the LS1 has that you will need for your accessories.

2k for that seems like an extremely good deal man. Just those parts alone are probably around 2K.

It's a gen 4 block. I'd confirm it's a 24 tooth relucter ring. And the cam and knock sensors are in different locations on the gen 4 blocks. Might wanna confirm with more pictures

I dont see the genIII bosses in the lifer valley for the Knock sensors,, but neither pic is ideal to see that detail..
That cam card says 600+ lift, 115 las,, that doesn't seem like a weak cam at all..

The first engine pic confirms it IS a Gen IV with the AFM/DOD towers in the valley. So knock sensors go to the sides of the block

The towers in the valley make it a Gen 4.
It will need a Gen 4 front cover. And an extension harness for the cam sensor. Will need the cam sensor itself too. It has the correct cam gear to match the 24x crank reluctor.
Kind of on your own for knock sensors. The orig LS1 sensors will need to go on the side of the block with their own harness extenders. Questionable if they read correctly on the block sides.

I appericate the response bro! Would it be possible to have a machine shop make the right holes for the accesories or do I have to go with 5.3 accessories? might be a stupid question lol
