In a demolition derby car. With a 4l60e transmission and 4.88 rear. Mostly 2500-7000

So this is short term. The car's getting wrecked on purpose. Why bother building an engine for it?

unfortunately it's not just about wrecking a car on purpose anymore. you have to have enough power to push someone out of your way or get out of the way of a bad hit. where this car is ran almost everyone else has a built engine.

A stock 6.2 truck engine will do that. There are far more of those sold in trucks than all cars put together.

well you’ll need a cam that gives you power down low so the cams that have been recommended would be the best. The 228R runs from 1.8-6.8K rpm’s peaking at about 6.2K rpm’s and holds the power all the way through 6.8K rpm’s. I don’t have the specifics of the smaller cam and I’m sure @G Atsma can give you that power curve and you can make a decision.

If you want to push stuff you need low and mid-range torque. So if you're going to toss that LS2 cam in, I'd advance it 4 degrees. But then you're spending money on an adjustable gear to band-aide not having the right camshaft in it.

The SDPC Hot Truck Torque would be the better choice, low budget, and still push past 6k. Way more torque in the 2500-5000rpm with maybe giving up a few hp above that.
