If the lifter trays weren't genuine GM then that is most likely the issue, or it could very well be all of it. Who makes Engine Tech stuff?? The trays should always be GM trays anything else is a crap shoot.

100% use GM trays.... I found out the same way you did.... saving $5 on trays cost me a $550 cam and lifter swap..... again....

Some guys don't like running any brand lifter trays. I have never had an issue.....Yet. But I buy my trays right at the GM dealer, and they come in a sealed GM bag. As said above, if you're going to run trays, use ONLY GM trays. Period...

I'll go one step further.....These aftermarket companies that are having problems certainly must know their trays are inferior to the genuine GM trays. Shame on them-BIG TIME-For not giving 2 about changing the design, or discontinuing them altogether....

As said above, only run GM trays, and don't get them from Amazon. Get them from the dealership or a place like Brian Tooley Racing.

Just to beat the dead horse... GM only or BTR's own trays. The issue here is that the GM trays have extra webbing between the wall and floor of the trays, whereas the cheap ones do not.

I have read of issues with BTR trays. Reinforcing webs are what make the GM trays stronger. If I'm running trays I would never run anything but GM trays....
