Default What sensor/plug?

I have S2 heads and Cam to let you all know. I have some sort of ticking on the engine left side. I tore down the engine to find out what the ticking is. Anyways while taking of the intake manifold I found a sensor/plug broken right of the top of the engine valley cover right behind the intake manifold. Its on the engine left side also.

Thanks IAV

The oil pressure sending unit is notorious for being broken off back there. I bet you'll find that that is what it is. I had to buy one a while back myself. It usaully breaks when removing the manifold, unless you know to watch for it. This is a pic from another post: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/201593-what-did-we-break-off-my-friends-98-ss-while-doing-ls6-intake.html

HUH so that's why my oil pressure is low. But why is my oil sitting at 20 and not 0.

If it were cracked or damaged, it could be getting a half assed reading.

no its broken right off.......now I just need to find the ticking!!!! I pulled the lifters out to find that they all look fine. Could there be something wrong with them that I can't see with the eye. Could there be something wrong with them inside that I can't see.

All the lifter parts are internal. You should be able to use a pushrod and push on the tops to see if any of them compress alot easier than another. If they all seem fine, then maybe the oil pick o-ring is cut pretty bad causing it.

Beast96Z,
Nope checked the O-ring looks fine. Yeah and all the lifters seem to be fine. I pushed on all of them and couldn't move them at all so I guess they are fine.

I'm thinking about just pulling the engine right out of the car. Maybe doing the engine over or putting a 382 in it......I can do all of this now since I have a second vehical.

Since I checked all of the rockers, pushrods and lifters and they all seem to be fine, should I go further and check the bearings. Is they any thing else I chould check before that.

Thanks,
Warren

I just don't see what else could be ticking. A bearing is usaully a audible knock, not a tick. I could be wrong I guess, but it just seems weird. You have a good point though, your already down to the short block so you might as well stroke it. Who cares what's wrong with it.
