I just got some new heads from TEA (S3 5.3 heads) and they flowed 311@550 and 321@600lift. These should make excellent power and they can be had for less than the AFR's...

Forgot to mention... TEA flowed my heads on a 3.9" bore...the AFR's flow 300ish on a 4in, correct? The AFR's will flow less on a 3.9 bore.

I have been waiting for the 6.0l heads just as long as you pal. I am a close friend of Jays. He has been hand porting all of the 6.0l heads still. He is not going to just use a crappy cnc port just so some winers on this board can get thier heads right away. I would rather wait 3 months then have a shitty set of cookie cut heads.

5.3 and 5.7 stage 2 heads can and will ship in the 3 Week range. Stage 2.5 usually take up to an extra week due to more machine work and extra hand porting.

As a side note a set of Absolute Speed 5.3 heads just put down 461 rwhp 413 rwtq. this was on a 6spd 2001 camaro SS qtp headers off road pipe 4.10 gears in a 10 bolt ls6 intake ported TB g5x2 cam and all the usuall bolt ons. The car was done at the shop in my sig.

These are what can be cosidered as Stage 2 AFR's done "first time" by GTP.
Numbers speak for themselves.
Head Info:
2.02/1.60 Valves
Flowed on a stock bore

Lift .200 .300 .400 .500 .550 .600 .650 .700
Intake 139 193 245 293 310 320 322 325
Exhaust 110 156 199 217 223 227 229 230

Those numbers seem to be pretty good considering that was the first pair GTP has seen and hasn't had a chance to experiement with them. These heads were flowed on both an SF-600 and an SF-1020. The numbers for both flowbenches were exactly the same.
And they were flown on 3.9 bore

And this is a Stage 3 by TEA, that one is a 4.0 bore

These are the flow numbers from our Bare AFR castings with our Stage 3 CNC program and blended by hand. After completion the Intake Runner is 238 cc's. These were flowed at 28" of water and on a 4.000" Bore. We feel that the AFR castings will help alleviate most of the head gasket issues that everyone has had in the past. The price will be $2,995 for these heads, complete and ready to bolt on. We are going to work out all the specifics and breakdown the parts list in the morning. The first pic is the shot of the AFR end stamp and intake runners. The second is of an intake bowl port after the CNC Stage 3 program has ran and the last pic is of the hand finished bowl and combustion chamber. Enjoy

Lift CFM
.100" 68.1
.200" 141.2
.300" 207.5
.400" 261.6
.500" 304.6
.550" 323.4
.600" 341.2
.625" 346.0
And these are first time CNC testing.

z28mccrory,
What was done to your 5.3's to make them flow that much? All the numbers I've seen were in the 301-309 range with the higher being hand finished? Are they doing something different now? Those are some really great #'s!

I've been waiting on my AS 5.3's for about 2.5 months. I was told 3 weeks when I ordered. Oh well, I don't have a choice but to wait now!

Just got an e-mail from TSP. My AFR's have arrived, just a couple more days to mill them .030 (W/.043 Cometics) for a final 11:1 CR.
Can't wait to slap them on with he new cam.

What is the duration/lift of your new cam ?
Also what pushrod length are you using?
7.4's used as an upgrade with aftermarket cams is larger than stock GM, aftermarket cams have a smaller base circle from what I understand, but now your milled as well.

Milled .30 for "a bit" less than a 62cc may yeild 11:1 but some folks say closer to a 59cc chamber is required for that 11:1 (Gasket thickness and deck height varience non-withstanding)
The Chamber volume sticky has some good info on this. If I had to close today I would go with the .30 mill as well.

I really want to know what you can stuff in milled AFR's without cutting the pistons. I am researching a similar set up.

Well I talked to Tony M. a while back as I was going to mill .040 for a 60cc chamber with stock gasket for an 11:1. He recommended the .030 with a thinner gasket for better "quenching" of intake charge.
He also said that the biggest to run safely .100>.125 PV clearance would be a 224.
So since I want a quieter cam but still with punch, I chose a 224/220, .581/.581 116+0 Stealth II (MTI) XE-R lobes.
I'm hoping for 430rwhp with headers/pulley/80mm TB/fipk/cutout/tuning (We shall see) through 10 bolt.
