Default 6.0 L Combos?

It looks like I have located a long block and I am considering several differtn combos. I was hoping for some of you other 6.0 guys to give me some pros and cons and maybe some dynoe numbers of some of the stroker options . I am considering just boring the block .30 over and running forged pistons and beefing up the rest of the rotating assembly and then running my stage 2 heads and spraying it with at least a 150 shot..... But, I am open to any suggestions. Thanks.

Do what I am in the process of doing:
Bored .03 over + 4" crank = 408ci <img border="0" alt="[evil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />
ported 6.0 heads, big cam <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
should be fun

There's infinite number of combo's. The 6.0 Liter stuff is superb for a Dual Power adder motor.

I'd do the 382 rotating assembly and a 4 inch crank if you're on a budget. Mark Shomaker can hook you up on a deal for the rotating assembly If I were you I'd keep the 6.0 heads and get them ported. They have the same intake ports as the LS6 head and at a lower compression makes it a super F.I. and/or N20 head.

If you want to be the baddest mother ever I'd suggest a Single Turbo 408 with the Juice or if you don't feel like Paying the scrill for a Turbo I'd get a YS TRIM and use a small shot of the Jigga Juice sprayed into the motor to cool it off.

With this kind of power level you're looking at getting rid of the 4L60E and stepping up to a TH400.

A 6.0 bored .030 over is a nice combo...

I had a 4.060 x 4.075 stroke iron block and it did 475rwhp/505rwtq (locked). If I had had bigger headers and had dynoed on radials I would have hit 500rwhp I think... (thru a 9" too)...

If I did another one I would do a 4.030 x stock stroke and I'd either set it up at 9:1 and put a blower or turbo on it or I'd spray a 200 progressive shot...

Doing a 6.0 is good if you go power adder or make enuff power to offset the weight gain.

I was trying to figure out how much the stock crank can take. And how sturdy are the rods? You think arp rod bolts and some forged pistons would be ok? I am planning on running at least a 150 shot on it.

z-mann, i am currently building a 6.0L with a .030" overbore and diamond forged pistons and manley rods with stock stroke. i've heard people say the stock crank can take 600 HP, i plan for 400-420 motor and a 150-200 shot on top of that, unless i get the itch and supercharge it. like mustang eater said there are infinite combos you can do. email me and i'll give you some more specific stuff about 6.0 combos. the rest of these guys probably know more about the intricate parts of it, but i can help some if you want.

You guys having your heads milled or are you just ordering the pistons to bump the compression up? I have a set of stage 2 5.7 heads now that haven't been milled.. Thanks for all you help.

MTI just built me a 427 cid ironblock with a 4.060 overbore and 4.125 crank. See my sig. for my set up and inital dyno numbers with on a brand new (not broken in) block and motor, through my loose drag converter A4 tranny.

4.060 is the biggest you should go if your planning N/A like i am, but i see you want to spray and therefore, .030 over with 4.00 crank (408) is the way to go! If you wanted to squeeze very last cid out of the set up you could match the .030 overbore with the big crank, 4.125=422 cid.

Best of luck,

I am doing a 4.060 with a 4.075 stroke N/A. If you want to spray get the 4.030 with 4.000 stroke. The stock crank can handle the power, but I would change the rods if you are swapping the pistons. It was only $550 for my carrilo rods.

.030 over and good heads should almost guarantee 450+ at the wheels w/ a good cam and compression. plus waaay more reliability w/ nitrous. ;D sounded like a plan to me...

Yeah, I said a 372 would be possible with .040" overbore. Whats the exact length of the stock stroke?

It would be interesting to see a cam only 6.0l build up with 11 to 1 compression. The 6.0l heads flow better than the 5.7 Then run 175hp shot of nitrous. It would probably be a reliable setup as far as nitrous motors go.
