Exclamation Crate Engines

Ok I want a faster engine in my car and then later turbocharge it...
But first I need to pick a good engine.
First I looked at the Linenfelter Crate LS1 that puts out around 450 Hp at the Crank. And is probably really well built with some of the best parts. http://lingenfelter.com/pac350ls1crate.asp

But there is also the Speed Inc. 383 Crate Engine another beefed up LS1 but I dont have as much info on this one but I know its a superb engine and can handle alot. Anybody who knows any **** about this stuff help me decide which engine is better and faster.

There are more companys that make crate(long block) ls1 motors, check out HPE and some of the other sponsors

Agreed - HPE, APE, FMS, etc. are all good places to check out. Course, you could always order a GMPP crate engine (i.e. LQ4/LQ9) and do-it-yourself (i.e. cam) to save some money.

SLP has a forged 408 shortblock for cheap. Only problem is, it is an iron block.Weighs around 95 pounds more.

Reeeaaallly?? Are you referring to SLP's block, or the normal LQ9? I always thought the LQ9 block was 105lbs heavier then the LS1....

If your going to go FI my advise would be to build a low compression forged 346. Larger cubes = larger invoice .
