basically the biggest you can go is the TR 224 114 LSA

any bigger than that is really pushing your luck.

Yes the dyno's are in use. I smogged my pathfinder a couple of months ago. They put it on a dyno and ran it at 25 mph. This is supposed to make it harder to cheat.

Hey siggy, I am down to meet at Sac or Sears. I don't know many people yet at these track's. I will PM you. I hope you get NOS because that is my next step after headers. I want the new NXL system. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> But as of right now I am still waiting on my QTP headers.

I hope if anybody does know of "friendly" shops,
you know better than to "out" them in a public
forum. They sure don't need it, and some of
you need them. All it takes is one junior G-man
with an interest in Camaros to sting your buddy.

For those of you in the Los Angeles area, be on the lookout for roadside smog checks. I've seen a couple of em in the past year. It's kinda like a sobriety check point, but they grab "random" cars and throw them up on their portable dyno rollers. The fuzz is normally involved with it, so if you see a bunch of cops and a little white ez-up on the side of the road, best bet is to pull into the closest place and avoid it. I can only imagine what the fine is with a pro checking your car as opposed to the average $29.95 smog guy. And cops are on hand to hand out violations.

So far I've seen them a couple of times in Valencia, and a couple of times in Palmdale.

What this guy said. I'd like to know what can be done without LT headers.
I'd like to avoid as much smog hassle as possible but I don't know if it's worth it. If i got a 220 114 cam and some boltons what could I get? How about with some heads like the 5.3s? This is all without L/Ts, I know what can be done with LTs (around 400rwhp).

supposedly Don Lee Auto's is getting 400rwhp h/c with stock manifolds and cats but i call :BS:. thats something everybody in cali would know if it were true. you can run up to a 224 114 and pass clean with a tune. ed vert along with a few other people have done it. ed had AS S2 5.3's along with the tr224 114 when he passed emissions. he started with 273.4 RWHP 289.6 RWTQ bone stock a4, and with h/c ls6 intake, lid, catback he put down 341.8 RWHP 358.4 RWTQ with stock manifolds. after jet hots and catted Y he put down 366.1 RWHP - 408.1 RWTQ - Untuned

My cam is smog legal. My headers and off road Y is not but my cam is. I've heard of a few guys passing with a TR224 .566 114 but it may be close. If your going to run stock heads you don't want to go much bigger. If you are going with a 224 make sure you don't run the XE-R lobe. Its more aggressive than the XE lobe from Comp and has not passed Cal smog yet. I wanted to be sure so I went with a 220 custom. I run an XE-R lobe on the intake side so its bigger than the XE 222 or the TR220 but smaller than the TR220 but it makes as much or more power.
