Default 6.0 ltr block question..

i was trying to do this right so im double checking...will a 4.06" bore with a 4.125" stroke get me 427 cubed inches? I dont know much about block work, if thats correct, that wont be too much machining to worry about will it?

The block will have to be machined to accept the stroker assembly. (Clearing tolerances)

So for all the work on the bare block, how much would be a fair price to pay to get the 6.0 ltr to a 427?

The 6.0 iron block might clear the 4.125 stroke,I "m not sure. Most are limiting the bore to .030 as you only lose like 9 ci. These blocks are not super thick!!

so nobody has ever done it out to a 427?..hmm i can see ill have to look in this further.

if it can be done safely, anybody have an estimate of how much this would cost? ....

Im getting rid of my 93 Z28, and buying a 98 or 99 camaro v6...cause i can buy one with the options i want ((t-tops,a/c,power windows , power seats)-Which my LT1 has none of lol)) and not have a car payment, so i figure if im gonna drop an LS1 in it...might as well do what i want, so i was looking foward to making a 427 out of the 6.0 ltr block...any thoughts?

the 6.0L block can be safely bored to .030, in some cases it can be bored to .060 but the block needs to be sonic checked and a lot of blocks don't meet the minimum required wall thickness.

I would consider doing a 418ci by using a 4.030 bore and a 4.100 stroke

the formula for calculating displacement is bore X bore X .7854 x stroke X number of cylinders. there are other formulas but I like this one.

Converting a V6 Camaro into a Big inch V8 is not a direct swap. Too much to do IMO., radiator, mounts, accessories, harness, fuel lines, suspension, pump etc..... Basically it's like building a whole new car. A cheaper way is to find a good V8 Z28 wreck (ie: no damage to frame), and going on a rebuilt on that one.

I agree with ForceFed HP, at HPE we go 4.030 with a 4.000 stroke to get 408c.i.
You are just going to lose the rigidity in the cylinder walls if you try to go to the max
bore size. In my opinion its just not worth it. Good luck

Yeah i know i hear that like 50 times a day, lol..but its not really an option im moving and need the car now without a car payment...i can comfortably buy a v6 with all the options, but not a v-8...so i might as well roll around in the v6 build the motor at my leisure, instead of rolling around in a v8, and having a car payment every month...not to mention i dont think i can find a nice v8 LS1 for around 5 grand.

Yes you can. Not worth the cash IMO. You have to resleave the block so you can bore it to a 4.06. I think you can pick up a resleaved block for a good 2k or so.

can't you resleeve your block to 4.125 then add a 4.0 stroke for 427 ci?the bigger bore will unshroud your valves if you open your heads up also and increase flow.
