I have yet to see any dyno comparisons between the 112 & 114 LSA cams that show any difference whatsoever in the power curves. Both cams seem to make peak HP at the same RPM.

I have seen some dyno comparisons between the MTI T1 (112) and B1 (114) cams. Both cams produced almost identical power curves.

IMHO the 224 114 LSA will make slightly better power off-idle, below 2500 RPMs where most dyno pulls begin. Otherwise, the two cams are virtually identical.

I was in the same boat about 5 months ago. I ended up getting the 112lsa and have NO regrets. My car hasn't stalled once, no interior shake at idle, didn't drill out the TB hole, and I have NO tuning yet. I say go with the 112, you'll love the lope at idle, its not harsh, but its noticable, just right in my opinion.

The car does seem to "buck" a little bit around 1400 rpm around parking lots but its really no big deal, I'm hoping tuning can take care of that.

I think my car makes great power 3000 rpm and up and I have the stock 3.42's.

Go with the 112, you won't regret it!

I have the tr224 112lsa. With a 12-bolt and 4.11 gears. The car is a BLAST to drive on the street. I did bump up the idle and used LS1 edit to get rid of the misfire codes. My car pulls hard all the way to 6800 and my hp only starts to slightly dip by then. But I also have heads so that may make a big difference. I also have a buddy that has the 114 lsa on his M6. His car also drives great. I don't think you'd regret either choice. I'm just waiting for the damn snow to stop so I can get some track runs.

ok...my bad.....after everyone kept saying they were holding strong to 6600, I went back (back road that is ) and retried it.

First: I think what always happened in the past went I pushed it that high, I was pulling my toe out of it a little (MY GOD THIS THING ITS SCARRY ).

Second: I am getting a few degrees of knock and I'm a little off on the tuning so I'm bound to pull a little more out if it once I get on a dyno (speck 3 and aluminum flywheel go in next week and then its test time).

I take back what I said before....the car (and cam) are a scarry beast...it pulls well into the 6000 range....its the driver that needs to polish up the brass ones

sorry for digging up old posts but why would a cam idle on an m6 and not an a4? i have an a4 which is why i care so much but since i race my car almost every weekend as well as it being a daily driver i dont want to spin it too high but can tolerate or even enjoy a little lope at idle.
so whats the deal with autos? are they stupid or something?

Autos idle lower than the 6 speed making it lope more and have more issues at idle. Hope that helps.

so if you raised the rpm to where a manual idles you would be fine?
also how high does a manual idle?

The problem with auto's is they are always in gear, even after the torque converter drops out. When you stop, the engine is being bogged down to a slow idle until you put it in neutral or park sometimes killing the engine. To get around this, you can quickly shove it in neutral as you are about to stop. Also, when you pull away from a stop with a manual, you can buzz the rpm's up to compensate for a big cam's lack of off-idle torque, whereas the auto doesn't give you that flexiblity. That's one reason high-stall torque converters are popular after a cam change.
