Well, this morning I noticed white smoke out of the exhaust when I was warming up the car. Once the car is warmed up, it was fine. And lately I have been losing coolant.

My guess is a leaky head gasket. But what else could it be?

my friend has a T/A that he knows nothing about, nor does he take care of. he had that problem for about 1-2 weeks before he did anything about it. it just got worse and worse, until he washed #7 out. couldnt get the car to start. it was a leaking head gasket.

 

Head gaskets, that's about all it can be. You're sucking coolant into the cylinder. Fix it now, or pay up later.

 

Good, simple fix. But what could be damaged?

I am trying to hold out till my heads come in. But looks like I cannot wait anymore.

 

If you mean what's the worst case scenario...bottom end. You could easily wipe out a piston. Or worse bearing damage.

 

You could always load it up with Alumaseal and see if that helps till your heads arrive.

 

You must mean from excess coolant in the cylinder. Makes sense.

 

I thought that stuff only works with radiators?

 

You probably don't have cylinder or head damage, but instead have a gasket that "blew out" and it bleeding the coolant into the cylinder. Additives will not fix this.

edit: Even if you had a cracked head or case, they need to be replaced not sealed with an additive.

Pull your #7 plug and see if it looks washed. When I had a powerdyne, that's where I blew.
