Big Cam
Dynoed 450 RWHP 431 RWTQ
This is not a daily driver
Ordered this cam a couple days ago: 232/238 590/605 115.5 LSA
I will be using the Manley dual springs, with titanium retainers, along with the Manley 2.055/ 1.6 valves.
We plan on cutting valve reliefs in the pistons, to help with the clearance issues, and possibly thicker head gaskets.
What problems can you guys possibly see in this set-up?
Also the heads that will be installed back on the car will be ported, and they are the 98 heads with the " notch " we were probably going to have the " notch " TIG welded in and the heads milled. Is this something we should do?
or will it hurt us?
If this might be a problem I should be able to get a newer set of heads without the " notch " in them.
Thanks, Don

How spot on is your tune? That would be your second possible issue. A cammed LS1s' daily driver abilities rely heavily on how spot on the tune is.
Last but not least what gears are you running....2.73 is just flat out a no go with any cam...or even bone stock for that matter. My 98 Formula has the dreaded 2.73 gears with the stock cam and it annoys me that when I stomp on it from a dig the car lazily slips the tires. 3.42 and up depending on what you want to do with the car is ideal.
