Should iridium plugs be used?
I was reading a post on another site and it stated that iridium plugs should not be used with ls1 engines. I have had mine for 3000 miles and would like to know if they should be used?

This is a GM TSB:
1997-2004 Chevrolet Corvette
1998-2002 Chevrolet Camaro
1998-2002 Pontiac Firebird
2004 Pontiac GTO
A new spark plug has been released for use in the above vehicles. The new spark plug has an Iridium tip instead of the current Platinum tip. Due to the different tip design, the gap of the spark plug has also changed. The new spark plug, P/N 12571164 with AC Delco P/N 41-985, is gapped to 1.01 mm (0.040 inches) when the spark plug is made. The spark plug gap is set during manufacturing and should not be changed or damage to the spark plug may result. Any new spark plug found to not be properly gapped should not be used.

I took my NGK TR55IX plugs out for my header install and the gaps where huge .075-.080. They were gaped @ .058 when they went in. 1 Year and 13K on them. I replaced them with TR55 Copper plugs. They did work well while they were in there. I also had no performance issues when I pulled them. Same rwhp & rwtq as when they went in.
