Default Should iridium plugs be used?

I was reading a post on another site and it stated that iridium plugs should not be used with ls1 engines. I have had mine for 3000 miles and would like to know if they should be used?

They come stock in my 04 GTO so I don't see the problem there.

More Internet bullshit. I've had NGK iridiums in my car for over 10K now and they're working just fine.

This is a GM TSB:

1997-2004 Chevrolet Corvette
1998-2002 Chevrolet Camaro
1998-2002 Pontiac Firebird
2004 Pontiac GTO

A new spark plug has been released for use in the above vehicles. The new spark plug has an Iridium tip instead of the current Platinum tip. Due to the different tip design, the gap of the spark plug has also changed. The new spark plug, P/N 12571164 with AC Delco P/N 41-985, is gapped to 1.01 mm (0.040 inches) when the spark plug is made. The spark plug gap is set during manufacturing and should not be changed or damage to the spark plug may result. Any new spark plug found to not be properly gapped should not be used.

I took my NGK TR55IX plugs out for my header install and the gaps where huge .075-.080. They were gaped @ .058 when they went in. 1 Year and 13K on them. I replaced them with TR55 Copper plugs. They did work well while they were in there. I also had no performance issues when I pulled them. Same rwhp & rwtq as when they went in.

Wow! That is wild to have gap increase that much in so few miles. My car has 43k and I was thinking of replacing the stockers with TR55IX, so as to not have to replace them as often. For the price difference I would hope to get about 50k out of them and avoid the hassle of the LS1 plug change. Has anyone had a long-mileage good experience with the IX's?
