when my friend dynoed his camaro, it smoked like crazy when it idled down from 5k rpm. i went around the race track today and when i backed off from like 5000 or so it smoked real bad too, mom saw it from the stands. what can be done to stop this and why is there that much blow by at those rpms?

either that or you are sucking some oil from pass. valve cover via TB or worse your rings are not seated properly in the piston grooves.

i dont suck much of any oil through there, i think its all blow by on the rings. my friends SS did the same thing and eveyrone else i know it happens to them. but i was runnin the **** out of the car so my mom could actually see it this time. but it wasnt low on oil and as soon as i got back into it the smoke cleared up and i ran right up to 6000 rpm again

I just put in a LS6 conversion and ran it through an AMW catch can. It actually works very well. Not burning oil, or at least there is no visible effect afterwards.

It could be bad valve seals or rings. My car does the same thing. It always burned oil but it got much worse after the cam and headers. I think its the pcv because it gets a lot of oil in the intake behind the throttle body.

Smoking on deceleration is bad valve seals.

Run a compression test for the fun of it.

Yes they would. Or you could just replace the ones on your stock heads. It's not hard at all if you do it when you change springs.

compression test would tell if its rings right? and if it was rings it would smoke after long idle or just high rpm runs, and it only does it backing off no other itme
