Fastest way to change O - ring on oil pickup tube?
Can you just drop the oil pan and get to it or do you have to take off the front crap too? (crank pulley, timing chain cover, etc...)... i hope you don't have to take off the front crap. Thanks.

Dropping the oil pan off on an F-body is gonna be really difficult, at least more than removing a pulley and a front cover. It'll only drop down a half inch or so before it hits the k-member, and thats certainly not enough room to get at things without the front cover off.

You can get your oil pump off by dropping the pan 1/2". It's a little tight but doable.
Why do you need to replace that o-ring?

the fastest way to get a new o-ring is to exchange your current car with a dealer who has a simlar new car...
..absent this, it is a lot of hard wrenching...
...why do u think your o-ring is bad?

whats up Jaime, I know I can do it by taking off all the front crap, but I was hoping there was an easier way to do it since I just did all that crap last week. I think the o ring is bad because I replaced the oil pump last week and oil pressure is sitting at 20psi at idle when it's hot... seems kinda low to me. Its a little under 40 when it's cold. Could be the oil I guess... oh well, thanks guys.

One guy that was having oil pressure problems with an ARE pump found the pressure regulator piston inside the pump was sticking. Is yours ARE?

For the hell of it, try Mobile 1 15w-50
I have been using that, and my oil pressure it almost double....

PS I installed an updated (2001) oil pump in my car, and my hot oil pressure was sometimes around 20. With the 15w-50 on hot days, it really makes a difference.

Sounds like the o-ring to me. I had 20psi and I only had 1/2 an o-ring left when I changed it Just take the stuff off the front - I don't think it is really possible to get to it by dropping the oil pan in an fbody since you can't drop it all the way. Besides - it is a major PITA so I would rather have the extra space to get to it.
