Default Harland Sharp Rockers and Comp R's

I did a search for this, but I found so much conflicting information I decided to post this.

I have a trex cam in my car and it is not making power past 6000 rpm. I have found on the board that the Comp R lifters are to blame, and I have found that the Harland Sharp Rockers are to blame. I need some fresh input on this.

I thought the Trex should make power to at least 6800. Any and all help is much appreciated.

I read that some guys instal them them improperly timed. Maybe too retarded, maybe too advanced. Just a thought.

Neither is to blame. The problem is that you are using a non-adjustable rocker with a lifter that requires an adjustable rocker. You are puting excessive preload in a lifter that isn't designed to have a lot of preload and that alone is killing your top end power. Those lifters are only supposed to have .002"-.004" preload.

What he said...except .008-.010 is the correct number right from Comp.

well that is correct and incorect at the same time. .002"-.004" is hot... .008"-.010" is cold

I would use a comp 1.75 pro mag, but in your case that might be a little difficult. P to V is very tight on that cam.

a guy at Thunder Racing told me I should just use stock rockers and an O.E. Replacement lifter, I guess like a standard comp. Anyone out there using stock or equivalent lifters and rockers on a cam as big as mine?

well, that would work just fine. You just have a preload issue.

do you think that I would be better off to use stock rockers with stock or stock equivalent lifters? I'm kinda confused as to my best course of action. What exactly do you think I should do as far as my lifter and rocker choice together?

well as is there will be a lot of work to do to change the lifters. With the RPM you are wanting to turn with that cam, I would change out to some adjustable rockers versus going back to stock pieces.
