Default Anyone have cam in Daily Driver?

Im talking like a 228....232 size cam? I want to get a cam for the power, but I have no back up car. And everyone i seem to know that has a mild size cam, has a back up car. Does anyone have an ls1 with mild-big cam that drives it daily? If so were there any major driving changes other than power, and shaking? Thanks for the opinions.

I have the TSP 231/237 cam in my car and it was my daily driver before I left for school. I still have the stock gears in there too. It takes a little bit of adjustment with the stock gears in there but once you get used to it it's no problem. I usually go home to drive my baby on the weekends now. I miss her!

As far as shaking is concerned, the car will surge at certain low RPM's in certain gears. The car shakes more at idle as well, but that can be expected from most, if not all cams of a similar size.

When you say adjustment to the stock gears, what do you mean?

with the stock gears and a large cam you will be more prone to stalling..(many people like to go with 4.10's for the feel and also it will be easier to drive)...however you should be fine as long as you don't go over a 240 duration....there are a few people with daily drivers that have the trex cam...i think it is over 240 duration...get any of the futral cams....you will be fine...i have not heard one person yet say that their cam was not streetable....good luck

I drive my car everyday. On all my trips backand forth from Auburn to huntsville, FL, EVERYWHERE. The cam is MTI x1 cam, 230,227 duration 591,571 lift at 112 separation. pretty loppy but still drive everyday and make damn good power and still don't have heads on it.

i would say it would be kinda hard...must take off a few things....the biggest thing is not letting things drop once you take the cam out...plus sometimes people shim the oil pump and then you need to do other stuff as well...i've never done one, but i would say it is not for your average car enthusiast...

224/230....i love every bit of it....as far as installing the cam...look at ls1install.com or ls1howto.com for instructions...i did 2 cam installs over the summer and everything worked fine...the only scary part is taking the cam out and putting the new one in...make sure you have something to keep the lifters up. its not so much hard as it is time consuming
