Default How High To Rev Hammer Cam?

What do you all think? The car revs now to 6300, and I am wondering what you all thought about changing it during my next dyno tune? Thanks!

where's it peak and stop making power? look at your curve and then decide from there.

My friends car C1 with MTI 2E's shifts about 6500 and the rev limiter is set at 6700. I don't know if that is Ideal for your car but it would be a starting point. Had the same settings when it was cam only.

Sounds good. I will have to start around there and follow what JRP said.

My C1 on stock heads used to peak hp @ 6000 and tq @ 5000.
6300 would have been a good shift point, but if the peak takes a while to taper off, I'd shift even higher.

Also, you have a 114 lsa setup, so it may peak a bit higher than the C1 which comes on 112 usually.

its weird because my c1 peaked at 6300 and did not fall off untill 6700 . Then it fell off quick.

^ was your setup still on stock heads? or were they ported?

On the 231/237 setup I have now, peak power moved up in the rev range after I swapped from stock heads to the 1.5's.

Well he has a A4 with a VIG 2800. So I would say shift at a point that will keep you in the highest HP margin between shifts, while still falling within your stall shift extensions.

I agree! You might think about going with a higher stall converter also!

He could restall. That is one of the things I like about VIG. I have a 3200.

I have thought about a restall, but I might go FI this summer, and I think this stall would work out pretty well with that. Doubt the tranny would though

one thing I like about the c1 cam is it pulls from Idle to 6700. I would try it with the 2800 myself. It will be quicker with the more stall but will work great with the 2800 as well.

The vig actually stalls at 3200, so it isn't as much as it lists, but it still isn't a big stall that most guys run. I have the dyno/tuning setup for Friday, so I will report back how it goes...

I have the C1 cam on a 112 lsa. I also have a YPT 4400 and 4.10 gears. I've tried shifting anywhere from 6400 to 6750 and found that 6550 to 6600 resulted in the best ET's and trap speeds. Cam only best is in sig.

That is a great time! What other tranny settings do you have tuned?

there are shift point calculators out there fwiw...all you need is an accurate dyno sheet and map your rpms vs. hp or tq...if your cam peaks at say 5800rpms i would shift it between 6300-6500...you have a smaller tc so your shift extensions are probably pretty low so i would definitly shift close to 6500 as to not kill the car on the shifts and with a good set of springs you shouldnt have too many issues with your internals.

Thanks! I also have deleted torque management as much as possible and I have increased the line pressure to shift faster. I was somewhat conservative with both however in hopes that my tranny would last longer than the average bear.
