Gasket Question......cam swap
Hey guys, I'm swappin heads and cam right now. I just got the old stuff off, and I had to drop the oil pan about 1/2", Should I just re-use the oil pan gasket? I'm kinda weary, since I cant even really wipe it off. Has anyone reused it? any leaks? How about the timing cover and water pump? They look like they were meant to be reused, but I dont want to have to do this again.

I have done 2 cam swaps and have had to drop the pan both times. I havent replaced it and it doesnt leak at all. However, I do suggest the head/cam swap kit from Scoggin-Dickey... www.SDPC2000.com
It comes with all the everything you need....head gaskets, water pump gaskets, front cover gasket, crank seal, balancer bolt, valve cover gaskets. I bought the cam swap kit and it is all GM gaskets, some of the best money I spent
SDPC2000 is awesome to deal with too.

DOAH!!! I lready bought head gaskets and bolts from them. Oh well, I want to get it back together this week so I guess I'll reuse them, they still look brand new. But, my hands look terrible....it looks like I took a handful of razor blades and started beatin on a punching bag This sucks, GM should clean the edges of these parts off before assembling them. Thanks for all the info.
