Nope. You must be special.

Nice picture, what's the story on the heads? Or is this thread just here to be flame bait?

Its a serious question. The picture was taken a couple of days ago, while helping install a customers MTI Stage 2 heads/cam package (whatever the deal is going on now, like a G1 grind Comp Cam). We were checking the heads out before putting them on and saw this in a port.

It looks like they went through. That place is accessable by a MIG and should have been welded but I guess the epoxy will hold if they feel they can repair it that way.

I have bought alot from MTI.That just doesn`t sound like them. But things happen! I hope you can get this fixed. Have you talked to anyone at MTI? If you haven`t, you should. They have great customer service! Talk to David there. Someone might have made a mistake! Good Luck!

I disagree with the "great customer serive!" part once they got my money I could not get the time of day from them...

...just my experience with them (MTI)

Well everyone has good and bad stories for every vendor especially when you deal in the volume of people a lot of these companies deal with. I get frustrated too Sidestep, but if you stil have a problem give David Coats a call he will take the time to make you happy if it is possible. As for the epoxy has been used for years with out any problems on every thing from itakes to heads to blocks and now some one wants to say that it wasn't fixed right? Come on i you are unhappy with them send them back and get them to send you another pair, but I see nothing wrong with using epoxy on the intake port. Just my .02. Good luck!

Epoxy can come loose, its more suited for a race car that has the heads checked every season.Certain fuels can make it come apart over time,I had my LT1 heads done this way for N20 and after 13K they developed a leak and had the tig'd after that mishap..I'd send them back if they were mine,Are u sure this is a MTI head, they do beautiful work and I've never seem them use epoxy on there heads?

I have personally seen MTI heads that were at a MTI booth at a car show in Houston. I spent at least 5 minutes looking at the quality of the port and polish work and your heads don't seem to be as smooth and refined as the ones that were on display last year.....then again, they did know hundreds of people were going to be looking at those!
