You're gonna get a lot of different feedback on this but I use Mobil 1 oil and filters, FWIW.

As the first poster replied,,,, there are lots of different opinions. I use German made Castrol 0W30. If you are going to use Castrol synthetic,,, make sure you use the German made stuff {it's only available in 0W30 as far as I know}.

I used M1 0W40 and 0W30 before using the German Castrol. The only reason I switched was because I was seeing so many great results from the Castrol 0W30 on a couple of great boards.

Try a search and maybe look at this board-

It's really a good site to look around on. There are so many good oils out there that I think that you should look at a few tests to see for yourself on what oil you want to run.

Super-tech 10w30. Get it at wal-mart. Thats all we ever use in our cars. Dads escort has 250k on it and runs like a sewing machine, all it has ever had in it. Been using it in my car for about 10k and no ticking no nothing, runs great. And also I run champ oil filter...stock size.

They don't say Mobil 1 only actually. It says Mobil 1 factory fill, then on the bottom it says special oil required (which is an oil meeting GM 4718M specification)

I use German made Castrol Syntec 0w30, with a K&N oil filter. I don't change it any sooner than 5000 miles since it's a waste of money and the oil doesn't need to be changed any sooner (in fact I'll be doing 6-8k intervals from now on, by following my C5's oil life monitor)
