Anyone running an LS1 intake in a cam only car???
I am going to put the TSP Torquer in my car in the spring. I am trying to work on a budget, so I was thinking of keeping my ls1 intake. My question is how much HP will it rob over an LS6 intake? Also will tuning need to be done again if I put one on later?

absolutely....in a cam only car, the Ls1 intake will be a huge bottleneck, especially up top where the aftermarket cam is gonna wanna breath/make most of it's power......
For you plain jane bolt on car, no you are not gonna pick up 20-30rwhp over the ls1 intake.....but when you have a cam capable of 400+ at the wheels in a properly setup car, and a good tune, the bottleneck becomes much more apparent...
i'd say with a good tune, he's looking at making 380rwhp on a ls1 intake...with a Ls6..i bet he crosses the 400rwhp barrier..

Right, but that cam also is has 9* less duration both intake and exhaust, and also has -4* overlap, while the Torrquer cam is 9* overlap. This cam also has to be spun a little higher to reach peak power, which the higher the RPM's, the tighter a bottleneck becomes...

Car dynoed something like 378 RWHP {forgot what the torque was} before tuning through the full exhaust. After tuning it pulled 398 RWHP and 385 {I think} ftlbs of torque through the cut-out. With the cut-out closed, I lost something like 5 hp. In all honesty, the tuner {Jason from TSP} told me I would probably pick up something like 15hp/ 20hp at the most, from the LS6 intake.
I think your Torquer should respond in about the same way,,,, 20HP at the most.

Why not put the money towards the intake rather than skipping an essential power making component? Seems to me like too many guys are wanting to put cams in cars without complementing them at all. Just seems extremely backwords to me. It's your car though, if you want a car that sounds a hell of a lot better than it runs go for it.

ah, backwards isnt bad if ur poor, add ls6 intake and pulleys to a stock motor = 20rwhp at most id think, put a big cam in and get 40+, then add the ls6intake and pulleys or the complementing items as you put it lol. i would think that is why ppl do it that way.

I am running an LS1 intake for another few weeks and put down 375hp and a crappy 355tq. That is untuned through true duels and bullets. Going to go bigger cam, heads and intake and shoot for 430whp.

Is that with a tuned computer????

I have been wondering this same thing. I know that an LS6 intake is my next move, but I am wondering how much I will really gain with it. I am guessing I will only really see 10-15hp. I can always hope for more though!
