Default FM13 or MS3 for a daily driver

Trying to get ready for my first cam install in the spring but i am stuck between 2 cams: FM13 and MS3. I have done numerous search, but I'm just not sure which cam will be better for my setup and will give me over 400rwhp and around 400rwtq with a mail order tune.

Setup: 2000 TA ws6 w/ STOCK heads, slp LT headers, borla catback, 4.10s, fidanza aluminum flywheel, spec stage 2 clutch, ls6 intake, and ASP pulley.

This is daily driver so i still need it to be streetable. I would like to shift around 6400-6600rpms. I really dont want to spin it much over 6700, maybe set my limiter at 6700 or 6800.

I have heard nothing but good things about the FM13 and alan's tuning, but i have also heard great things about TSP and the MS3 and it would be less expensive with TSP mail order tune. As far as sound goes, would the MS3 be significantly louder/meaner than the FM13? And would the MS3 require the springs to be changed more than the FM13? (I will be running PRC duals or Patriot gold dual springs.)

Thanks, Jimmy

If youre looking for streetability, I think you'd do better with the F13. Futrals cams are well known for being extremely drivable despite their specs and the power they make. Its almost unfair to the other cam manufacturers. TSP's magic stick is supposed to make great power, but now youre looking into the "Donkey Dick" cams, as one guy so lovingly referred to it as. Youll probably make more power with the MS3, but it wont be *THAT* much more power, probably within single digit difference between the two. The MS3 is already what many consider to be a race only cam while the f13 will have no bad road manners. Also, the MS3 has a .609 Lift, which might not be very gentle on your stock lifters.

you could call alan at FMS and ask.. if he isnt in(ive called 10 times and he's busy everytime lol) then Kip can help. He answered all my questions. Alan emailed me and said the F10 was best for my A4 and street use. Then I found a good deal on a F11 and called back,, couldnt get alan and kip said that the f10 might have a tad more midrange over the F11, but the f11 would make more peak hp. Either way, i wouldnt feel a difference in the 2.

For your M6 I would either go with the F11 or F13 both should get you over 400hp cam only. Seems most love that F13 on 112 LSA!

also, keep in mind emmissions if you have to pass those.. I doubt either of the cams above 228 anywhere will pass those damn tests..

we dont have them out here in the boonies lol

i run an f13 on 114 lsa and i love it in my daily driver. a little less power down low compared to stock (gears would overcome that), but its a monster up top, and the idle is very smooth (the 112 lsa im asumming might have a little more "chop" to it).

Thanks for all the replies........and dont worry i dont have to pass the sniffer test just the computer plug in.

Does the FM13 sound pretty mean on a 112 LSA or is the MS3 a whole lot meaner/lopier? If i spend all this money, i want someone at a light to know it aint stock, lol. I know that the FM13 is more streetable that the MS3, but i have seen several people with the MS3 in their daily driver. With 4.10s, wouldn't the MS3 be pretty streetable? I just dont if the MS3 needs higher rpms than i want to spin. Anyone know the powerband or where it peaks or where you shift?

I just got a bad *** camcorder for christmas with a sweet mic so I'll be making plenty of videos in the next week. I have to wait a few days to get my exhaust welded up, then the clutch will be broke in and I'll be giving it hell.

F 13 has a great power curve, tq was around360 at 3200 rpms where my dyno started and held flat from 3800-5000 or so and hp peaked at 6300 . look at link to my graph, it is kinda small but I dont know how to fix it.

I haven't heard the Futral cam but saw a video of the Magicstick and it sounded awesome. But one of the Futral cams would probably be better for daily driving. Also, I talked with Alan about a month or so back and he recommended the F14 to me with my M6. So you might should also consider it.

Well i guess i better stick with the FM13 or FM14 since it is more streetable and the power is under the curve. Maybe i'll get a bigger cam when i graduate from pharmacy school and get something else as a daily driver. Anybody gotten Alan's mail order tune along with this cam? I hear he is a great tuner.

Thanks, Jimmy
