Default Looking to make a 500rwhp N/A daily driver?

I want to use the ZL 402 and some AFR 225's with the FAST 90 set up. The goal is 500rwhp. The problem is I don't want a window shaker cam. I was hoping this number could be reached with a cam under the 240 mark on a 114 or so. Has any one done it? I was going to go the FI route since 650rwhp is the final goal, but I think a stroker and a TNT 150 shot will get me there for less cash. I have close to 400rwhp now and there is no traction under 40mph. I can just turn the bottle on when I need it. Any suggestions?

u can't control 400rwhp now, yet u want 650rwhp?? ok... i don't know if ur gonna get 500 with a mild cam, but u will get good power and drivability from something like MTI's R1/114 cam...

We did 509 rwhp / 489 rwtq with the ZL402 and AFR 205s and a 234/242/110. A very nice driving car. So your goal should be no problem at all.

I never said I couldn't control the power. I just said I had no traction. There is a huge difference. That and I am still on the stock ten bolt with 4.10's and stock suspension. So I can't run a decent tire on there. But thanks for the imput any way.

Mikey. That is about the size cam I was thinking about. Do you think the AFR 205's are under sized for a 402? Or will the 205's make more tq and a better driver than the 225's? How does that car idle and drive around town? I think I read about that car with the whole smoking thing and all. I am glad that finally got resolved. I know you guys get good results so your thoughts and opinions are appreciated. Thanks.

The 205's will build more torque early and if you are going for a smaller cam then they are what you need. I would personally go with the 225's and a BIG cam but I always lean toward the insane side. I have two motors going together here shortly with the 225's and both are 402 street motors. One is an iron block and the other is an LS2. I will post results as soon as I get them. I have the 234 cams in stock if you're interested. I also have a 242/250/109 that will work well.

What car in you sig has close to 400 rwhp?????
The only LS1 that I see in your sig has exhaust and some bolt ons....no 400 rwhp cars that I see.

Anyway....go big on the cam. Unless you go with like a 110-108 lsa....you won't have any driveability issues. Even then...with a good enough tune you should be fine. It is kinda pointless to run a head that flows well everywhere in the lift range and a cam that does not take advantage of it.

I have not updated my sig. But I have a cam and all bolt ons less EWP and Fast intake. I just don't dig huge sigs. The car is close to 400rwhp but I don't think I am there yet. I am going back to the dyno to do some more tuning today. The 91' was a 400rwhp car plus it made 450rwtq. But that is all besides the point. I would say a cam in the high 230's to low 240's with around .600 lift would take advantage of the 225's. I could be wrong though.

Mikie. Keep me posted on what the other two 402's do. I will probably be interested in one of your cams when the project comes together.

I would go a little over .600 on lift...just to utilize the good flow up top. I would say that you will have to go atleast well into the 240's to assure seeing close to that kind of HP.
