I think I have a turned lifter
Engine started ticking so I checked all the pushrods. No bent ones. I did a compression check and all were around 170 PSI COLD except for #4. It was 225 PSI. I checked valve lift and all were around .450 except #4 intake. It is only .360. Would the infamous twisted lifter cause this? Anything else I can check before pulling the head? Engine is completely stock and is in a sandrail.
Where us the best place to get a head gasket and new head bolts? Can the head gasket be re-used?

An LS1 sandrail, cool! I love sandrails! I've been thinking about building an LS1 Sandrail also.
Could very well be a turned lifter, I had one. But I don't know how to tell without taking the heads off. The head gaskets are not reuseable. The best head gaskets are the 2002 version from the dealer.

LS1s in sandrails are like VWs in sandrails were 6 years ago; everywhere. If I have to pull a head, it will only be the right side. I want the same gasket it has now.

My first sentence. "Engine started ticking so I checked all the pushrods." Boosted One, that cold weather got your brain going a little slow?
I re-checked it again at the pushrod. The lifter is sticking up. If I tap it down, then turn it over by hand, with a dial indicator on the pushrod, it comes up the same as the others. ~.300". Me thinks using 15-40W oil may have caused the problem. I use this ~1600# sandrail in temps ranging from the high 50s to the 80s. I will change to 5-30W and add a bottle of CD2 "Lifter un-stick fluid".
