Flareside, we've used this combo wit LS1, LS6 and aftermarket 2.02/1.57 valves and not seen any issues with valve float, you are correct that the shorter LS1 valve decreases the amount of lift the springs can handle, but it's not an issue in this combination.

This is a tried and true setup we've used fopr several years. Car Craft magazine did a dyno test with this same setup on a 5.3 with very similar results.

Ed
what about @ .006 and the ICL? im just trying to find out lobe profile as compared to an XE/XE-R lobe.

i know alot of people who look for sleeper cams but are scared of the gt2-3 because they see the high lift and think its agressive.

Right here is the comfort I find to still buy this cam.
"This is a tried and true setup we've used fopr several years."
LPE knows their ****. End of story. If Ed says it's gonna work then I trust him.

Thanks for having faith in me!

To answer jrp's question, duration at .006" tappet lift is 255/281

I'll even go as far as to say if anybody buys this cam, and feels that it's too aggressive, I'll buy it back myself!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a super mild cam, and if a sleeper cam is what you want, this is the cam for you.

Hope this helps,
Ed

Well it's a complete change in characteristics in my car. I'm running an Xpipe that dumps before hte rear axle and on tuesday I"ll be running LT's with that Xpipe. And well a 383 with a hotcam sounds aggressive.
Switching to this cam and a Texas Rear Turbo kit with that one piped exhaust thing. LOL It'll be so much quieter and calmer. Which Will be much more sleeper suprise.. hehe. But most people know about my car anyway so w/e
ED I primarily have faith in LPE and what you learn not you per say. hehe just kiddin.

Wow, this topic should have been resolved in 4 or 5 posts! Does the selection of a mild cam for a street car really deserve 44 posts? D3IMOS, Ed and i gave you the answer on the first page of this thread.

Yep, a very helpful thread, and obviously for more than one of us.

Ed, thanks for the info. I have a set of your GM/LPE CNC heads here with those springs, and they have a tag on them that says .570 max lift, so I'd guess this cam is near the limit of what they'll tolerate. I'm actually going to run this cam with AFR heads.

That thread is about a regular GM Hotcam. You've said before that your LS6 GENIII HOTCAM is better than the hotcam, but has been discontinued? What are the specs on this discontinued cam?

I've been running this cam for over 2 years and honestly I don't have the specs anymore. There have been quite a few arguements over the details of my cam. Eastside dyno tried to tell me when they built my 383 in this past year it was a Z06 cam. Which is BS because it's idle is nowhere near that of a z06. It's way to lopey sounding. Unfortunately I don't have the specs on it because my orginzational skills are **** and I don't have the card anymore. I'll have to get it looked at when I switch cams in feb. I'll definately let everyone know because I'm very eager to settle this. I might have the dealership bill in my car for it. I'm going to have to look into it and see what I can discover.

I'm really stuck on this GT2-3 cam but I been thinking if I end up waiting to do the heads/cam/ and turbo together I might go with the GT-7 but I find the likely-hood of me being mature and disciplined enough to save up that money to do that all at once very bleek at most. I usually am only capable for saving up enough for each mod at a time.

Sorry for to bring up an old thread.

Questions for Ed Potter,

I need to know the difference in the 2 LPE cams

GT2-3 V's GT7

How does the GT7 idle compared to the GT-2 ? (that is like a stock cam)

What power does the GT7 make ?

cheers

Where does Ed work now? LM Speed? Is he the owner of LM Speed (if hes even the same Ed)? What did he do at LPE? Was he the tuner?
