Default LS1 to LS6

HYPOTHETICALLY: what exactly would I need to convert my 2002 z28 LS1 to 405hp LS6 spec?

Sorry, but wrong forum, use search, and this conversion would be a waste of time and money

hey whats up henny as a matter of fact i just did a swap to an ls6 on my 30th anniversary trans am its pretty straight foward except with the intake also i bought the engine and no harness or computer because i reused mine. However my engine began to misfire. But after a little trip to MTI in houston in runs perfect after they tuned it with ls1 edit so if u dont buy the computer your are going to have to get it tuned...hope that helps.

humor me ..what would have to be done to accomplish this? I'm under the impression that the LS6 is an LS1 with a bigger cam and better port to port bay venting and maybe some better flowing heads? I could be very wrong but fill me in on this on guys. THX!

LS6 comrpession is 10.5:1
LS1 compression is 10.1:1

LS6 does indeed have a hotter cam, and better flowing heads. It also has a better intake manifold than pre-01 LS1s (01+ LS1s used the LS6 intake manifold).

The LS6 block is also scored for some ventilation purposes at higher RPMs.

So basically, a true conversion would replace just about every part of the motor. Now that's silly for 50 HP, isn't it?

^yeah i woudl say so. there are much easier, cheaper ways to get a few extra hp from your LS1. do an LS6 intake swap, Long tubes, and a cam swap, and you have all of the power of the LS6 if not more. for a lot less money.
