Default 427 or H/C & Blower 346?

after i sell my house this summer, i'll have a bit of cash to play around with and i'm starting to plan out ideas right now.

so far i have it narrowed down to a Rapid Motorsports LS2 427ci crate motor, or just leaving the 346 in there and throwing some AFR 205's, a semi-reasonable cam, and an ATI Procharger on there.

and yes, i've factored in tuning, fuel system, & stout rear end etc etc.

just trying to get some feedback and weigh my options.

mods: i posted this in the FI forum too, hoping to get views from each side. hope that's ok.

Another vote for the 427. I like the deep exhaust tone of larger engines (I'm not really into the whining sound of FI engines, but it's only my opinion).

And there is nothing like saying "yeah, it's a 427!"

I am in the same boat as you (well, hopefully in a year or two). I think there is too much PITA involved in FI(well turbo anyway-i like the magnacharger) to get it right. There is just something cool about saying I have a 4xx under the hood. Ummm.....447ci.

If mikey, who hasn't chimed in (and should send me a PM with some stuff we talked about) has his 427 with AFR225s for under $10k, it will be much more cost effective than an H/C. IMHO.

427 forged, 200 wet shot. Or go iron block 408 forged with a 300 wet shot, and never look back.

hmmm tough call, the big cubes are cool but you can duplicate the power with the other package if not surpass it, like others have said if you put boost on your stock shortblock make sure you got about 3-4k laying around just incase you happen to need a forged one. Plus with the ls2 dont you have to ditch your knock sensors? Thats not too safe so thats somethign else to consider.
