Re: G5X-2 cam & head Dyno Numbers
The graph is posted in the first post in this thread.
Do you guys all have the Cartek cam specs. I don't.
this has turned into a thread about my specs, not about the accomplishment of making 463 rwhp from a stock bottom end.
Thanks for all the support guys. and enjoy the graph.

If people have not learned by now it is not always the cam and it is the combo.. Man.. This is one of the reasons we see so many different #'s coming from the same cam on different cars.. I am sure the cam specs will come out in do time. If you want to be nasty.. Buy the cam and cam doctor it and call it whatever you want and sell it yourself for less... Then Lou would have no rights to the specs.. Just kidding.

Where are all the 460rwhp cartek cars that haven't dyno'd at cartek? Where's all the guys that installed their own cartek package and made similar results? They have loads of high hp heads/cam cars, more than seemingly any other shop out there. They seem to have a very hardcore fanclub as well among corvette guys....why is that? I think its because C5 guys are much more suckers for hype in general than F-body guys. While a post like this would be taken in with open arms on corvette forum, a specless cam would be questioned on ls1tech.com. Its just a difference in thinking.
Having said all that, assuming your dyno isn't high, it'll be interesting to see if this cam pans out in other peoples cars for sure. Its just harder for people to believe the progress until they see it with their own eyes. Independant testing on the net IMO is more important over here than on some other forums.
I'm glad to see people are still out there doing R&D....its the exact same reason I have tried 7 LS1 cams now (all on the exact same dyno) in my cars. I only imagine its that much easier with one thats inhouse, it just means you'll be questioned more on it when incredible results are obtained.
[edit] I'd also like to say I have nothing against cartek and I'm sure their stuff is amazing. I was just trying to point out that they get questioned just like this thread is. [/edit]

Re: G5X-2 cam & head Dyno Numbers
Just because this particular car dynoed 460+RWHP doesn't mean at all that if I have LS6 stg. II heads and this cam I will even get close to those numbers.
It's absolutely a great accomplishment, but if I was interested in buying this cam but I don't have ANY idea about the way that car was set up except for the heads and 4.10 gears + this cam, how does this help me make an informed decision?
True, many people brag on this board about RWHP #'s but usually they give a few more details.
Lou, I am interested in this cam for sure, but I'd need a little more info. to find out if it would be right for my application, and even if I'd have a shot at similar #'s.

Lou,
Not that my word means anything, but I absoulutely 100% respect you decision on not posting your cam specs. If you have a secret, trick up you sleeve, or whatever it be, than Kudos to you. Why should you have to reveal that secret?? If people base their purchases on whether or not you reveal a cam spec, than they are losing out. Obviously your H/C package is kicking ***, that would be enough for me to make my decision. Good job on you setup!!

Congrats on the #'s!
463RWHP SAE
I knew this day would come. Looks like he could use a little bit more tuning to flatten out the AFR to boot.
Here's the graph again:

Re: G5X-2 cam & head Dyno Numbers
i dont think its a matter having the numbers just to have them. itd be nice to have them for planning purposes, if some one were to email or call you would you at least givem the info they ask for and not just say , "ya it will/wont work or what do you plan on doing"? and givem the runnaround. thats the least you could do outside of posting the info. No disrespect Lou, hope your not taking that way,I AM IN NO WAY TRYING TO DISCREDIT LGM just trying to make a point.

Re: G5X-2 cam & head Dyno Numbers
Marketing a cam with secret cam specs is
The simple fact is that this cam is nothing new, is probably a standard split unless Lou wants to make himself look stupid after all the G5 posts about how standard splits have so much better torque blah blah blah....

The car leaves at 6:00 am tomorrow. If any of you Dallas guys want to run up here now, we will dyno it for you. It is still on the dyno. Bring a camera.
Thanks,

Lou already stated it's not reverse split, and the torque is great!

I would love for you all to say, "well, I think I will send LG Motorsports some MONEY to help with all that time and money that they spent on the R&D". Then you could all benefit.
But this is America, and the way it is done is for a company to fund R&D out of PROFITS. So It would be stupid of me to just post the results of the 8 cams that we have been working on. We would be fools.
In Communist countries the "workers" share. In capitalist countries, we all compete to be the best, so we can benefit from our labor. You the consumer, provide services to others, to make money, and then we all take that money and trade for goods and services.
Now, If I give away the fruits of my labor for free, then I will NOT have any money to trade for other goods, like food and clothing. Get the picture?
This is how I make a living. When I produce, I get paid. When you produce, you get paid. Then we trade dollars. The payoff comes when you work "Harder" than the other guy, you get more "Stuff".
I Love America.
But hey, check out those numbers, over 450 for 1000 rpms
Thanks

Re: G5X-2 cam & head Dyno Numbers
I don't think posting a few more details would discredit him or give away any secrets at all. He doesn't even say what transmission is in the car. Auto? M6? (I would guess M6) locked converter? Which headers? etc. Not much to go on.
I could (and probably will) call and find out, but it'd be nice to know if I was wasting my time calling or not....
MTI's X1 and Speedtek's F1 still seem to sell really well even though most people know the specs. on them.

Re: G5X-2 cam & head Dyno Numbers
its funny how when MTI did this very thing, everyone spouted exactly what Lou has said. MTI did the R&D way back and reaped the benifits from that. why is it so bad for Lou to do it now?
i'm like most - i cant run a cam w/out knowing the specs, i didnt like it when MTI did it, and i wish Lou didnt have to do it. but we also steal specs to claim as our own, or to under sell the "creator" w/ zero overhead. you can have the G5X-2 cam specs, just start having cams ground, your eventually gonna trip across it. will it be sooner than 8 cams? who knows. its only money, right. quit bitchin', if the cam makes the power you want, by it.
i support Lou's position, just not how blunt he is about it.

Sorry. I just read the itty bitty type on the graph that says it's an M6. My bad......
