I agree, boost it vic!

I'm just guessing, but maybe low compression doesn't respond as well to high timing

How about efficent and advanced chamber designs don't need as much timing.

Didn't Jarrod write a whole book about this on here a few weeks back? lol

I remember that, however I have time slips that show at least with stock heads my 28-30* produces more power over stock timing.

Interesting. I've seen otherwise in my own testing, however not all testing is going to be the same no matter what. I guess that's why we all do it?

Who knows, every car is different. 98's and 01's have differnt cam's, ever so slightly revised head designed heads. I'm sure that has something to do with it, also how rich/lean the car is.

i think even with lower compression you should have owned him with those tea heads
maybe he really has better heads or a lil 50 shot and hess keep in hush-hush about it?

I'll need to sell my TEA Stage 2 6.0L heads first(yes they are for sale).

Vic, the compression is hurting you. Charlie's car is strong and he doesn't have a hidden 50 shot. If he did you would of been seeing his taillights.

Time for a bigger cam and nitrous. Why is the other car so much lighter? I thought he had a bunch of stereo crap in his car?

Gonna want more compression with the bigger camshaft to maximize the effort....

the macs cant be hurting him that badly if at all really, guys with ported macs and ory, are running forced induction setups to 600hp and higher, noiw if there ever was a motor that needed to breathe it would be that one lol

Cam = $350-700 - Takes a day or two
New pistons, mill heads = $1,250-1,750 (roughly) - Weeks without the car

If you are going to increase the compression, sell the engine and get a new rotating assembly.

Gotta pay to play. If you don't want to do it, that's fine. Jerami, JRP, gave the best advice so far. See if the machine shop will replace the pistons.

You could always have the heads angle milled, but then again thats foreign to most...

Nah, his car is slow, ask him about my video

His car is somewhat of a freak so it might not be the best comparison.

I had a small time machine work that builds race motors do my work (i know that was the first mistake), he doesn't have much experience with LS1's. When i asked him why they were dished he said that he thought I didn't want too high of compression, I told him I wanted 11:1, just not over 11.3 or 11.5:1,

Now another question has come to my attention. With the Diamond pistons and the smaller 0.927 wrist pins, what size rods are you supposed to use? My piston card says 6.125", and I checked my records and called LS1 Speed, and they said my rods were 6.098"

Just got off the phone with Ron w/ Diamond, and he says he hopes I was wanting to force air into this motor!

My compression is right around 8.5-9:1. If I didn't want to change compression I was supposed to use the bigger 6.125" rods. Oh well looks like I either have to sell the motor or have a really slow, low compression NA car

i calculate ~9.3 CR, with a 7.5 DCR. this is using a stock gasket and deck height.

milling another .020 and running a .020 gasket will net you a 10.6 SCR and a 8.4 DCR and a quench of .039

What exactly is DCR? Deck height is supposedly .9240, and the gaskets are Felpro's and are 0.054"

DCR = dynamic compression ratio. i guestimated 4* advance on the cam, if you give me the ICL if its not 108 i can give you the exact number.
