H/C 99 T/A.....doesn't seem to be producing?
I just had the motor redone, and I know the cam is fairly small (really small for most of you guys), but the car just doesn't seem to perform.
Mods: Eagle 4340 H beam rods, Diamond -8.6cc (valve relief) pistons, CC XE-R 224/224, .581/.581, 112LSA, LS6 intake, ASP pulley, Mac mids, ORY, Cutout, SVO 30# injectors, SLP flowpack, rollmaster double roller timing chain, SLP heavy duty oil pump, 4L65E and Vig 3600.
I ran a 2001 cam only 228/225, .585?/.581, 113LSA, he was probably only 200 lbs lighter than me, and its a cam only, auto with Midwest 300o converter and FLP's, ORY, and full bolt ons. I put just over a car from 30-130.
When I did that the timing was stock, I bumped it up and haven't had a rematch but it still doesn't seem to be responding. Timing is at 28* and there is no knock what so ever. A/F Ratio is around 12.8-13.1

Do you have any track times or dyno results for your setup? It's kinda hard to compare to that other car, but from what I can tell it sounds like your only disadvantages to him are the smaller cam, the lower compression cause of your valve reliefs, the weight difference, and possibly the fact that you're running midlengths on a motor that seems like it should really be breathing. But you also have those TEA's, so I dunno. Over a carlength is a pretty good bit though, I wouldn't be too upset.

My compression should be fairly high, I should be close to 11:1, they are the TEA 5.3 heads milled 0.010"
I live in STL and our track, Gateway Internation Raceway hasn't opened up yet. Mid March, I'm kinda scared to go though, I'm still on a 10 bolt

I have 2 logs, I haven't had time to get to a dyno, so I just went from 50-110 and used my HP Tuners scanning software for the determination.
20* timing: It took 7:731 seconds
28* timing: It took 7:881 seconds
I hadn't logged anything in between but I haven't seen any knock what so ever and they are brand new sensors

Apparently I didn't get Diamond Flat tops with valve reliefs, the shop that built my engine was confused with what I wanted. I wanted 11:1 I just didn't want 11.3:1, so he ordered Diamond -8.6cc dished pistons, which is completely opposite of what I was wanting. I wanted an NA motor that I would possibly spray. I don't have the exact chamber volume on my heads (they are 5.3 TEA milled 0.010) but I believe my compression is like 9.8:1 or so. I'm pretty much screwed unless I get new pistons, aren't I?

With a flat top you'll be in the arena of 11.0:1 too lazy to do the exact math.
You have 3 options
1) take the motor apart get new pistons and mill the heads some.
2) Angle mill the **** out of your heads
3) New pistons and Angle Mills the **** out of the heads anyway
I'd do option 3, compression is your friend.

I don't want to go any higher than 11:1, I really want to stay only on pump gas. and besides that I really don't have the money to pull the motor and put new pistons in, I think I'm just gonna be stuck with a lower compression motor, guess I'll just save for spray

you need to find out you exact compression the mill the heads down a bit more to bump the compression up to atleast 11.0
but i still wouldnt bee to dissapointed in your results, he has a bigger cam and few hundred lbs less weight so that worth about 3-4 thenths over yours on thoses to factors

I wouldn't be very upset about it.... like said above..... the other car has a larger camshaft, is lighter and I'de say that the converter is a good bit more effecient which would help him out some too. I'de get to a dyno and to the track! even with the lower compression you could/should still be @ 400hp @ the rear wheels. If I were you i'de prolly go with a larger camshaft though.

I'd love a bigger cam but I can't have the car torn apart in the garage any more for a while (I've had bad luck and the wife isn't too happy about that) Plus I don't have anymore money to put into it. I would love a different cam though. I'm getting to a dyno and tuning it on Saturday. But I think I'm only going to get around 380, I was originally hoping for 400+
