wait a second.. will i have to notch my pistons for a set of unmilled 205's and my f14 cam.. 232/234.. jsut a tad bigger then the f13.. i heard afr's were supposed to give a lil more clearance then even stock heads.

If I remember correctly it was .015 more clearance. I would immagine if it clears stock heads, it should clear unmilled AFR 205. Unless the slightly bigger valves is an issue.

Sizable cams with stock CR equals "OK" performance....Your better off with a smaller cam and higher compression....similar peak numbers with more area under the curve....basically more average power and torque.

I've hit on this a few times already but thought it was worth mentioning again.

Combination guys....VERY important

Big cams create more overlap reducing dynamic CR....more static CR is needed for it to become an efficient combination.

Tony how do you think the AFR 205s milled to 11.2:1 compression with a 220/220 115LSA/115ICL cam would work? (Looking for stealth and fully emissions legal)
LT headers, LS6 intake, stock ported Tbody, auto tranny 3000 stall

It would run "crispy"
(ba da dum....lol)

It would kick but...crazy torque and throttle response with insane midrange grunt as well. Bet it still pulls strong to 6500 RPM or so also....Go for it

Tony M.

PS Try another 4 degrees on the exhaust side....it will still pass emissions and fill in the power upstairs a little more.

I was actually thinking about a 220/224 115LSA to help with the restriction from the cats

So do you all think that I should keep my C1 cam and just do the AFR's with 11:1 with no piston notching involved or since the heads are going to be off, do the G5X3 with notching? What would the advantages/disadvantages be to both?

B1 would have better street manners, cheaper, does not require another stall etc...

IMO keep the B1 for now and fine tune that set up.

Great thread guys, I have been kicking around something, I have a forged motor. 3.95 hone with coated diamond pistons with valve reliefs. I started with a new block and shaved it for 8-10 thou out of the hole. Currently running 98 heads with 2.055 in. 1.60 ex.. fully ported and port matched to an ls6 intake. ported tb. Curently running a TR 230 cam on the street. I want to wake up this motor to it's full potential. I have a comp xer cam with 609 242 @ 50 intake and 612 248 @ 50 on a 112 +2 sitting on my shelf. With the quench issues with the shaved block, how much would a afr 205 (or 225 mayby?) head and with what gaskets, would have to be milled for running street 93 oct. gas? with 11.1 or more compression? Also any opinions on this cam and another one that would be docile with the same setup would be appreciated. This is a m6 car with alot of upgrades. thanks
