PP stage II heads worth the upgrade to bigger valves??
Someone around here has bare Patriot Performance stage II heads that are setup for 2.02/1.57 valves.
I was wondering what's necessary and is it worth it to set them up with bigger (2.055/1.60) valves?
Do the bowls need work and would I need different parts (springs, retainers, etc) between the 2 different valve combinations?

Fom what I've gathered 2.05' will require new seats. That means machine work to install the new seats and then a valve job of course. I know that's the case with stock seats, (they can be machined to 2.04") I assume PP is using the stock seats, but don't know for sure???
And, .003" is not going to do much for performance on a stock displacement motor, it may even loose a little low end port velocity. If you're going for top end it will help a bit.
I'm in the same boat trying to decide if it's worth the extra work for a few more thousands of an inch of valve. (.003 x 3.414)

Now I bought stock 5.3s for donors so I need new valves anyway,my good freind will do the machine work for the new seats so I just need to pay for the seats and to have them cryo-set in place.
Personally, I'm thinking 2.05"s may be worth it just because almost everybody has 2.02"s And the more you build the motor the more the larger valves will help.

Wouldn't that be an increase of ~0.11949 of curtain area and will that help low end by giving more flow instantaneously or will it hurt port velocty down low?
I know the porting work will dictate much of this too, but just curious what your opinion is.

Math error aside, it is the curtain where air flows across the valve, just as elctricity flows on the outside of a wire, know as "skin effect"

Gunnar, are you guys working on releasing the Titanium valves for Ls1 heads ? I saw your post making that claim a while ago...any progress/update ?
That would be uber-pimp !
Think about it guys: Ultra weight valves, some 918 springs with Titanium retainers, and you can spin your motor to 7K easily with no issues...not to mention, it would be reliable and last quite some time.... That would definitely be a mean setup !
