Default G5X-3 112 or 114 LSA?

Am considering a G5X-3/AFR 205 combo this summer. Read numerous threads on 112 vs 114 but I can't get a definitive answer on the difference. My application is road racing so tq under the curve is important. Flycutting isn't an issue as it would have to be done on either cam because I'd be getting the AFR's milled to bump compression. Car is pretty much track-only so driveability isn't a factor either. Would appreciate any feedback.

Also, is it worth going FAST 90mm with stock displacement? Some say 10-15 hp & tq gain. Thanks!

the 112 will get you to your powerband quicker. sounds like you've already taken everything else into consideration.

i have the x3 112/afr combo. the 112lob comes on about 400rpm's earlier. the 114 lob comes on later but moves the peak power up by 400ish rpm's.the 114 lob will have a nicer idle and is easier on the valve clearence issues. i have valve reliefs in my pistons so i went with the 112. i want a little more rough idle and don't want to shift much past 6,600-6,800rpm's. my car is a weekend only car.i hope this helps.

I've tried both 112 and 114 LSA cams and I must say I like the response of the 112 better. Get ready for more idle missfires and roughness though. I think you also get more light load bucking with the smaller LSA. But I build my car to be run hard; I'm not driving Miss Daisy.

I have the 112 lsa in my autocross car - don't think it is a wheezer up top, it still pulls hard to 7K, and seems to come on strong from 3-4k. Idle is rougher (or meaner if you like that sort of thing) but there is great power all over the rev range, especially if you have low/Z06 gearing.

If it helps, LG himself prefers the 112 for everyday and track work.

Would the 112 be alright for a daily driver? What do you mean by rougher idle?

Keep the duration smaller for a daily driver and you will be fine.

Something like a TR224 112 lsa

or a TSP225 112 lsa would be fine

The lower LSA (lobe sepereation angle) on your larger cams like they are talking about have massive VE (valve event) overlap. This causes the idle to have that big lope that drag cars have at the tree. You know cars the ones that sound like it's going to stall at the stop light.

BEAST-my g5x2 cam drives and idles just as good as my old 224 112 cam. he can get more cam in there for more power and drive just as good every day. the x2 cam picked up over .2 in the 1/4mi over my 224 cam.
