Default These cars are a stupid piece of fock!

I have tick that will NOT go away. I've replaced pushrods, lifters, rockers, rocker arm bolts and pedistals, spark plug wires, spark plugs, exhaust manifolds (headers), exhaust manifold gaskets, and intake manifold. The entire top half of the engine has been apart and back together and the damn thing STILL ticks. I'm ready to buy a damn Mustang. </rant>

how do your belts look? tensioner pulleys? do you still have your AIR pump and tubes attached? if so did you check the check valves?

i have the EXACT same thing going on. i just put in new comp 850 lifters and chromoly pushrods. its kinda dishearting isnt it?

what kinda oil pressure do you have? i'm beginning to think that i have bearing problems or somthing.

you can take both belts off and run it once it starts ticking to diagnose the belts/pulleys. take one off at a time and maby you can isolate the problem a little easier.

My money is on the POS air tube check valves. If you want to keep your AIR system operational and lose the ticking....get some thin guage sheet metal....cut two pieces to match the AIR tube gaskets. Drill a hole in each piece ~3/16" and sandwich one between the air tube and gasket. This will keep from blowing out/burning up the check valves. Or..... get rid of the AIR system

AIR system is gone. I'm way past the easy stuff.
Oil pressure is just under 40 at idle.

No metal in oil since I've owned it (only about 15k). Car now has 78k.

I've worked on many LS1 cars. Never had problems like I do with my own. I chased around false knock on my 95 Hawk just like I'm doing with this tick.

O-ring is my guess.

You can buy a mustang and be slower (sans terminator), or deal with a tick

I will NOT deal with the tick. It's personal now.

O-ring doesn't make sense to me. Stock oil pump. Plenty of pressure. I've already gone on wild goose chases.

I have a 2k stereo in my car (MB Quart) and it's unhooked because THAT has a gremlin in it too.

I have piston slap but it goes away after the car is warm. Completely different noise. Piston slap has more of a tap/knock/slap sound. This is a tick.

our farmers drench anything with tics, maybe a good soapy wash and a bloody good redline thrashing to take out the frustration

catdiesel is probably dead on...the injectors in these cars are very noisy. I would almost bet that it is your injectors.
