question about milling AFR heads with F13 cam

question about milling AFR heads with F13 cam
can the afr heads be safely milled so i will still have good p-v clearance with f13 cam? if so how much can they be taken down? or how can i figure this out? thanks
and how much would it cost to have a set of heads milled

I just ordered the f13 myself, my heads have 2.05" valves and were milled .015. I just had them surfaced to clean them and the shop told me they took off a couple of thousands. I figure they are about .020 now so I need to know this info as well.

I dont know my exact number, but my compression is actually lower than it should be. I have 64cc chambers and I'm running a 6.0L gasket. Remember I only have the FM11 too.

ok, well my goal here is, without a 90/90 set up yet to make 450 hp at the wheels with afr heads and f13 cam, and i dont know if i would need to work on those heads to get it to do that. theni wanna go 90/90 and make 460-470, what do you think about that?

Well crap.... really??? I am about to buy the 5.3's not milled, stage 1.5 and a F-13 cam.... the guy at TEA told me it would work fine.... are you sure F-13 114(+4) and 5.3s are not a good match?...

The problem is your VALVES, not your heads. You are running 2.05's. The 114 MAY fit, but I doubt it. Call Allan tomorrow to find out for sure, and make sure you tell him you have big valves.

Yeah, it's not a big deal. Just get the TEA heads with 2.02 valves instead of 2.05.
Are you getting the new TEA 5.3L stage 1.5 heads (with the new port)? I am anxious to see how they work out.
And I don't know how much power you are planning on making, but if you want big power with TEA heads, get them hand finished (TEA can do this, or you can have someone else). They will flow a lot more this way, even if it is more money, the results I have seen show that it is WELL spent. JMO.
Plus I would like to see how your setup does with the F13 and hand finished TEA 5.3L heads, since that is the exact setup I am looking into (maybe AFR heads, not totally sure yet).

allan told me (i am almost positive on this one) that the factory heads can be milled .030 and still have .08 pv clearance. if the afr head has .015 more than with an f13 cam .040 can be taken off with no problem then to get that CR up.

My heads were milled .030, and with an .040 gasket and a 224/228 cam I had the textbook minimum of .080 and .100
I still think its silly to run big cam with low CR (versus "medium" sized cam with higher CR) but I've already hit on this in previous threads so I will keep my mouth shut.
No mill and 114....probably similar to my specs but maybe worse (concerning P to V)....on a 112 I would say its not going to fly.
Install the cam, degree it, and pop on the heads unmilled and check....its the only way to truly know....should be done anyway...and you don't have to rely on "internet tech" which might get you in trouble.
Keep us posted...
