Biggest cam without having to check/change springs all the time?
I was wondering what the biggest cars you guys are running in your car without having to check/change your valvesprings every 5k miles or whenever you need too. I want to be able to do a cam swap, and put in whatever springs I need and just drive the car. Not worrying about anything moving or getting messed up. So lets hear the set ups guys! Thanks.

i want TSPs 228 with the XER lobes. would comp 918s be good enough?mi too do not want to have to worry about changing valve springs once a year.

It all depends on how you drive it. If you rev the snot out of the engine every day like I do, you will need to check/replace the springs once a year, even if you have stock springs. They all lose tension after a while.
Having said that, if you stay off the rev limiter, combine comp 918's with a TR224, you should be good for 40,000 miles. I put 15,000 miles on that combo, checked the springs, and they still had 130 lbs seat presure.

I would get the appropriate spring to match the cam, but that doesn't nessacarily mean that the springs will last 50k miles. I know some of the bigger cams, MS3, G5X3 etc will not be good for long spring life. So which cam would? I was considering the FM11 or FM12 maybe, or the TSP 233/239? I wonder how long it would need for maintaince for a cam like that. What cams are basically maintaince free (to a certain extent obviously) that make the most power, or are the biggest. Black knight, what is your set up? Anyone else have any cams that they have that they don't do any maintaince on? Post up some specs and milleage so far you have put on them maintaince free! Thanks.

918's and a cam in the 220ish duration and 580 ish lift should get you to around 400 hp to the tires with the needed boltons to make it work, and should be good for at least 25K, probably longer than that if you are easy on the car.
Eastside just got thur doing a cam install on my car, and I went with a cam like metioned above, got me 402hp to the tires thru the 12 bolt and steel driveshaft.... so with a sotck 10 bolt it would have been in the 415 range easy, and I don't expext any issues with valve springs for a long time.... or at least until I get into the motor again.....

As for track and dyno, since it's not in the car yet, I'll have to get back to you on that!
