Default Quick Poll.....

Guys...

If you had your choice, would you rather see a fairly serious (but streetable) 383 CID build up with AFR 225's, or would you have more of an interest in seeing a 402/408 LS2 block build up instead.

I was initially going to feature a killer 383 (all stroke) with a honed stock LS1 block, but I dont see a whole lot of these around. My initial thoughts were that this combination (the 383) would be fairly popular due to the fact you retain your stock block and just put a new rotator in it....seemed easy, affordable, and reasonably effective.

Any input here?

Looking forward to your replies,

Tony M.

PS.....Keep in mind I would prefer to feature something that's more available and affordable for the "masses"....either will make big power with what I have in mind but obviously the larger bore (better breathing) and additional cubes of the 400+ cubic inch motor would generate higher output. This will be a pump gas motor by the way but might need a spike of Torco (octane boost) or better fuel if you live in the land of 91 octane and want maximum ignition advance for optimal power.

i think the 402/408 will be the better build up do to there growing popularity, especially with the ls2 blocks.

your still gonna do the 346 225 build up right?

Thanks for the input Jerami...

Yes...We will still be featuring results from a 225 headed 230+ cammed 346 as well. I've got a lot of great tech to share with you guys in the upcoming months....should be exciting.

I agree that both would be nice but in interest to the masses it would be which ever would be cheaper and more easily available I think. Personally I am interested in the 402/408 build up on the LS2 block. I really want to find out more of the LS2's potential.

I would rather see the 383. Since that would be closer to my budget. But with all the 402/408s that are showing up, I am sure you would get a better response with the big cube motor.

Thats funny, since I will have a setup quite similar to this ^. Cam ground for the 225cc heads and all, just need to get the heads and assemble. We'll say its closer to 231/242 enough over .600 on each side with intake handicap for lots of nitrous! Hmmm....when these heads getting released? I'll have to use the PP 5.3L for now

I would rather have a 383 with 4.10 BORE and stock STROKE and rev it up to 7500rpm than a 4.00 BORE and STROKE revved to 6500rpm. I like how the engine revs and reacts when it has a large bore and a tight stroke.

I say 402 cuz a lot times when people blow the motors the block gets destroyed. If youre gonna buy a new block might as well get the ls2 block.

THe 383 is a lot of work for 30-40hp

I'd like to see a 383 stroker. The smaller bore would be more of a challenge for the heads.
I think part of the reason why there are few 383 strokers is the lack of amazing results produced by 383s in the past.

Tony,
FMS is putting a set of 205s on my 11:1 347 in the next week or two, so I guess I don't have opinion about your poll, except to say I wish you could produce the 205s faster!!

Default Wow....

I'm glad I decided to ask you guys your opinion. Looking like a landslide for the LS2 build-up. Kinda makes sense with the affordability of the block etc.

Keep the comments coming....its actually pretty interesting guaging all the response. I would be curious if a larger poll figure has the 402 combination that much "ahead" as well.

By the way, 225's on a 383 would make GOOD power....my guess with the right set-up significantly more that you guys have ever seen, but once again, take that EXACT same set-up and drop it in a 402/408 build and you will see more power and torque everywhere.

Anyway...let the poll continue.

Tony
