G5X2 or TSP 233/239 R2? Please help me choose
I will be ordering one tonight..I have searched and read a lot of threads about the G5X2, but can't find that many about the 233/239 R2. My car has Absolute Speed Stage 2 5.7 heads that have been milled 5 thousenths, so either of these cams should be ok without flycutting the pistons. Which one would you guys reccomend? I know that the 233/239 hasn't gotten much use yet, especially the R2 version, but what do you guys think? The cars got a 4000 stall, and 3.73 gears, rest of mods in sig. Which one is supposed to be more of a top end cam, and which more for torque? My 224/224 doesn't pull as hard as I would like. thanks

But if the X3 won't fit, I'd go with the X2. Or better yet, a Futral cam. But if you're limiting yourself to those two cams, my choice would be the X2.
Granted, I don't have any experience with either, but with so many cams on the market today, it seems more reasonable to go with something proven. Honestly, it sometimes seems as though sponsors are pulling random specs out of the air just to have another cam to add to their catalog.
But that's just my $.02, and like I said, I don't have experience with either, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I would go for the G5X2 if you dont want bother your self with flycutting and piston notching , I am looking for dyno no. on my files know but looks like I missed it , anyways I remmeber that the X2 will be more effective in power, especially with your parts listed .
good luck .

One more vote for the X2, I don't have much experience with the alternative but the X2 is a bad *** cam........X3 would also be a good choice if you are looking for top end from what I hear. Someone in another thread stated that the G5X2 has more of the feel of a 60's muscle car and the X3 has the feel of a european exotic. I can't remember exactly who it was but I do remember that they had a hugger orange SS, I think his board name is Orange Peel. Hope this helps

The X2. This thing will just keep pulling and pulling once you get beyond 3k rpms, and it's not really much of a dog down low, in fact it drives great. Oh, and the lope is absolutely crazy sounding.

I would say go look in the dyno results section at what Futral cams are putting down across the board and you'll see why I sold the 233/239 I bought to go with a F13 instead. I really don't hink you can go wrong with FMS.

anyone see the thread where there runnin 11's?
I am biased, i agree,
but this cam does pull like a **** past 3000
383/373 is nothin to laugh at
especialy since i have no pulley, intake, or TB.........
all the cams in this thread have proven they can do the job the thread starter wants..............

Hugger, I was looking through some old threads and found one were you were questioning why your 233/239 dynoed so low. Did you redyno more since that?
Since more people recommended the G5X2, I ended up going with that one. It has been proven, and I dont like being one of the first ones to try out one of the newer cams.
I will let you guys know my thoughts on how it is compared to the 224/224. I'll also be taking out my Macs for some Pacestters.. I cant give you guys a dyno right away though...It is going to be tuned by a local person who tunes cars on the street with HP Tuner.
