how much did you guys pay ?

 

first time around i payed near 1k in parts and tools.

 

They can range from 350 bucks to 1200 bucks it just depends on the shop.

 

I didn't pay nothing (to a shop), but as jrp said, there was an initial investment in some special tools/parts. The next time will be close to free (not counting my sweat).

 

Doing it all myself it still cost around 1k by the time I got the cam, springs, pr's, timing chain, oil pump, bolts/gaskets, and crane valvespring tool. Looking back I kinda wish I would have just done a h/c deal b/c I want to do heads later anyways and it would have saved quite a bit of money. Now I'm thinking whenever its time to swap springs I'll just get me some new heads!

 

I was right around $1,100.

what the hell.. i spent 1050.. and i still need timing chain and valve spring tool... all my **** is comp tho. comp 921's 224/230 ti. ret seal quides.. all that good ****

the cam and everything was like 800 i think. i got the cam, tit springs/ret, chromoly p-rods. then the tune was 3 something, and the labor was 3 something too. so total was ~1400.

 

Damn I had no idea I thot the whole bit would cost around 500 , guess I'll just wait for the heads

 

500? sure....if you find a used z06 cam and springs and want to install that. otherwise....look at 1000 on average.

 

I spent almost exactly $1,000 for the parts from texas speed. I have a large cam and needed dual springs plus I went the extra mile with a ported "LS6" style oil pump and a rollmaster double timing chain. I installed it myself, spending ~$200 on tools (spring compressor most important!!) and then $350 on a dynotune. (was only $350 because I had already purchased a basic tune)

Edit: Total expediture of ~$1,550 netted me:

Cam (TSP MS3 v.3)
Chromemoly pushrods
PRC dual springs
Titanium retainers
hardened spring seats with new seals
Rollmaster double roller timing chain
ported LS6 style oil pump
Thunder racing's in car valvespring tool that does two at once and is the ****
dyno tune by speed inc
a few assorted tools I did not have

 

on my other car I think i ended up spending about $1800....
cam/dual springs/roller rockers/chromemoly pushrods/double timing chain/ported ls6 oil pump/gaskets/new crank bolt/a few tools/a bunch of beer.....(really the beer was the most important part)

 

i had my heads and cam swap done for about 1200 dollars
